Town tours for Halloween afternoon
BLACKSBURG - Residents may visit participating town facilities and business Halloween in a "Trick or Treat Tour of the Town."
Included on the tour will be the town Municipal Building, Police Department and WTOB (Channel 2) television station from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday. Residents also may pick up a list of participating businesses at the town facilities and visit those businesses from 3 to 6 p.m.
Then, at 6 p.m., the town will have a Penny Carnival at the Community Center on Patrick Henry Drive.

Christiansburg library to install TV device
CHRISTIANSBURG - The Christiansburg headquarters of the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library will install a closed-circuit television for people with visual impairments Wednesday.
The television will magnify ordinary text, allowing people with visual impairments to read. The television, and others like it to be installed at three libraries in Roanoke, were funded by a grant from Voice of the Blue Ridge. The televisions were bought by the Blue Ridge Council of the Blind.
Red Cross training to be held Nov. 15-17
BLACKSBURG - Red Cross chapters in Montgomery and Pulaski counties and Radford are sponsoring a training conference at the Blacksburg Marriott Nov. 15-17.
Classes include: The Inclusive Leader; a Board Development Workshop; Serving the Diverse Community; Volunteer Management; and Board Development. The conference is open to Red Cross staff and volunteers and anyone else. The cost is $15 per day.
