A man accused of stabbing his wife in front of a Roanoke grocery store over the weekend faces a murder charge after she died late Monday.
James Carl McCullouch, 39, was served with a murder warrant Tuesday, Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Ann Gardner said. He is being held in the city jail without bond, a sheriff's deputy said.
McCullouch will be arraigned on the murder charge today in juvenile and domestic relations court, Gardner said.
Wendy A. McCullouch, 31, was stabbed in the stomach in front of the Ninth Street Galaxy grocery store about 10:08 a.m. Saturday, police said. She died about 10:10 p.m. Monday in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Police said Wendy McCullouch named her husband as her assailant before she was taken to the hospital.
