McCULLOCH, Wendy A., 31, died in a local hospital Monday, October 28, 1996. She was an employee of Hanover Direct Corporation. She will be sadly missed by her loved ones and friends. Surviving are two sons, James McCulloch Jr. and David McCulloch; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pamela and Michael Alwine, Wyona Rickman; two brothers, Roger Dale Rickman, Aubrey L. Rickman, Jr., all of Roanoke; fiance and daughter, Howard and Krista King of Vinton. A memorial service will be conduc ted at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 11 a.m. Thursday, October 31, 1996 with the Rev. Larry W. Lykens officiating. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Vinton Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday
McKEE, Carlton Lee, 70, of Hardy, was called home to Heaven to be with Christ Jesus the Lord on Sunday, October 27, 1996. He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola McKee, and stepson Clifford (``Moe"") Hampton. He is survived by his wife, Lois Marie Updike McKee; daughter, Sharon Leigh Jones, and two sons Randy Carlton and Marty David McKee, all of the Hardy area. There are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. McKee served in the U.S. Navy during World World II in the European Theatre of Operations as a signal man on a Landing Craft Infantry (LCI) in the Mediterranean. He was employed by American Viscoe and retired as a welder from the car shops of Norfolk Southern. Mr. McKee served on the Bedford County Board of Supervisors, always striving to straighten out Hardy Road. He was an active lifetime member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church. A memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Clay Peters and Pastor Burrell Baker at the Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton on Wednesday, October 30, 1996, at 12 noon. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. A special thank-you to Hospice nurses, especially Caroline Scarborough, and Dr. Harry McCoy.
McMILLIN, Joseph William, (``Mac''), a native of Mobile, Ala., and a resident of Houston, Texas, died Monday, October 28, 1996, in Houston. Mr. McMillin was a former manager of Mountain Lake Hotel in Mountain Lake, and at the Menger Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. He was the General Manager of Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Gibson McMillin; his mother, Jane Norwood Adams of Mobile, Ala.; one brother, James L. McMillin of Albany, Ga.; two sisters, Ann McMillin Tyner of Ridgeland, Miss. and Judith L. McMillin of Dallas, Texas. Funeral services will be held from the mortuary at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile, Ala. Saturday, November 2, at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be at the mortuary from 1 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service
MILLER, Angela Wilson, 27, of Moneta, passed away Saturday, October 26, 1996. She was born June 4, 1969 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Robert Edward Wilson and Joyce Nicely of Moneta, who survives. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Donald Scott Miller, Richmond; a son, Robert Scott Miller, Moneta; a daughter, Cheyenne Briana Miller, Moneta; her stepfather, Miles Glen Nicely, Moneta; a brother, Troy Wilson, Bedford; paternal grandmother, Mary Wilson, Akron, Ohio; nephew, Troy Wil son Jr., Bedford. MINGEE, Margaret Miller, of Hampton, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 27, 1996. She was a native of Roanoke. She is survived by her sister, Doris Gray of Roanoke; and many nieces and nephews in the Roanoke area. Arrangements by R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, Hampton.
PATSEL, Christine Cooper, 85 of Roanoke County passed away Monday, October 28, 1996. Mrs. Patsel was a former employee of American Viscose and was a retired hair dresser from Smartwear Irving Saks. She was a member of Cooper's Cove Baptist Church and was the widow of Will iam C. (``Bill"") Patsel. Surviving are her twin sister and brother-in-law, Pauline C. and Carey L. Blount, Roanoke County; her sisters-in-law, Delilah Loyd, Roanoke County, Cicero Wheeler, Hardy; Also several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, Thursday, October 31, 12 noon with the Reverend Charles (``Al"") Echols and the Reverend Sam Crews officiating. Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Cooper's Cove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

POTTER, Earlene Dean and POTTER, Albert, of Providence, R.I. Earlene passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 26, 1996. She was a native of Moneta and the daughter of the late Willie (Bill) Dean and Lul a Payne Dean. She received her early education in Bedford County, and as a young woman left this area in the early 1940's to make her home in Providence, where she remained until her death. Albert passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 28, 1996, at his home. Survivors include one son and grandson of Providence; brother, James Willie (Irene) Dean of Roanoke; nephew, J. D. (Bernice) Dean and family of Richmond; an extended family of cousins in the Payne family of Goodview and Moneta, Marshall and Harry Cecil Curtis of Roanoke, the Murphy, Bonds, Kasey families, and many other extended family members of this area. Double funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 1996, with the Baily Funeral Home, 84 Camp St., Providence, R.I. 02906, officiating.

SAMPSON, Bessie Minter, 66, of Glasgow, formerly of Goshen, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 28,1996. She was born in Goshen on October 23, 1930, daughter of the late Houston and Florence May Minter. She retired from Rockbridge County Schools in 1993 after 16 years service. Mrs. sampson attended the Glasgow Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Melvin A. Sampson of Glasgow; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and David Jackson of Glasgow; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Bonnie Sampson of Salem; and son, James O. Sampson of West Palm Beach, Fla.; also, five grandchildren, Bobby Hinkle, Diane Sibold, Michael Bowden, Tammy Riley and Chris Jackson; great-grandchildren, Steven, Jason, Kayla and Rebecca; three sisters, Elsie Bryant of Clifton Forge, Virginia Kanney of Kingsport,Tenn. and Lina Loan of Milboro. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at the Glasgow Baptist Church, with the Reverend Bill Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery. SANDEFUR, Walter C., 94, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, October 29, 1996, at his residence. He was a retired employee of the Times-World Corporation, and was preceded in death by a son, Willard Lynn Sandefur. Surviving are his wife, Frances Estelle Sandefur; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen S. and Paul Fein, Leesburg; daughter-in-law, Kim O. Sandefur, Roanoke; grandchildren, Allison Crouch, Columbus, Ohio, Steven Crouch, Crofton, Md., Evan Sandefur, Roanoke. SAUNDERS, Michael R., Sr., (``Mike""), 67, of 667 Bull Run Trail, Penhook, died Tuesday, October 29,1996 at his residence. Born February 7,1929 in Martinsville, Va., he was a son of the late Perry Garvin Saunders and Elsie Crenshaw Saunders. He was predeceased by a son, Clyde Maxey Saunders and two sisters, Jacqueline W. Harris and Johnnie S. Reynolds. Mr. Saunders was an active member of Christ Community Church in Penhook, a Navy veteran and a member of American Legion Post #325, Danville. He began working at Saunders Lumber Company in 1951 for his father and uncle, buying one-fourth the company in 1972. By 1982, he had purchased the balance of the company. In 1989 he retired and moved to his home on Smith Mountain Lake in Penhook. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Moon Saunders of Penhook; two sons, Michael R. Saunders, Jr. of Gretna, Monte D. Saunders of Danville; one daughter, Kimberly S. Shields of Dry Fork; three stepchildren, Robin E. Hughes of Roxboro, N.C., Lisa G. English of Rocky Mount, N.C., James E. English of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; one brother, Perry G. Saunders of Casselberry, Fla.; six sisters, Jill S. Henderson of Birmingham, Ala., Perry Anne S. Gibson of Chatham, Nikki S. Wilson of Chatham, Peg S. Mayhew of Chatham, Robin S. Williams of Lynchburg and Pat S. Tyree of Danville; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Chapel, by the Rev. Edward McClain. Interment will follow in the Christ Community Church Cemetery.
