Anita Hill, whose sexual harassment allegations rocked the Supreme Court nomination of Clarence Thomas, resigned from the University of Oklahoma law school Wednesday, saying she wants to work in an ``uncompromising'' academic environment.
Hill's resignation, accepted unanimously by the university's board of regents meeting here, is effective at the end of the fall semester.
Hill has taught at Oklahoma since 1986 and took leave during the 1994-95 school year to write two books. A message on the answering machine at her home near the Norman campus was not immediately returned.
Hill was not at the meeting. Her letter did not specify what her plans are, but regents Chairman G.T. Blankenship said she has opportunities for research and a book tour.
``I wish her well. I think she's looking for some anonymity, and that's not possible at Oklahoma,'' he said.
