WANDA P. SEARS and EDWARD R. BARNES, personal financial advisers with American Express Financial Advisors Inc., have been named "Master Advisors" for their sales performance and for exceeding financial planning and client service requirements.

The Roanoke Regional Home Builders Association Inc. has named FRALIN & WALDRON INC. its 1996 Star Award winner. This award is given to the builder member firm that has received the most points from associate member firms during the competition year. Builder members earn points from associate member firms with whom they have business contacts.

The association named SHEILA ROSE DOOLEY, building-permits clerk for Roanoke County, 1996 Public Employee of the Year. She was cited for going beyond the call of duty to help home builders with their problems and concerns.

WILLIAM H. SPENCER III of Roanoke, agency manager for The Franklin Life Companies in Southwestern Virginia, has been granted the Life Underwriter Training Council (LUTC) Fellow professional designation after meeting training and educational requirements and membership and ethical standards set by the council. Spencer is a member of the Roanoke Valley Life Underwriters Association and has been active in the life insurance profession for 29 years.

MICHAEL L. KIDD has been promoted to assistant vice president of First Citizens Bank in Raleigh, N.C., where he is an audit supervisor. The Roanoke native is also second vice president for the Institute of Internal Auditors.

PITZER TRANSFER AND STORAGE CORP. in Roanoke, a subsidiary of Canton, Ohio-based People Services Inc., has been recognized with ISO 9002 registration through Underwriters Laboratories Inc. ISO, the Switzerland-based International Standards Organization, has issued a series of standards for businesses to ensure a high level of quality control.

THE LONGABERGER CO. has recognized Pat Dean of Vinton for generating annual sales of more than $45,000 and for annual sponsorship of more than five new qualified sales associates. Also recognized were Tammy Campbell of Roanoke and Carolyn Gordon of Vinton for annual sales totaling more than $35,000 and Paula Vandegriff and Mary Jo Thompson, both of Roanoke, for generating more than $20,000 in annual sales. The Longaberger Co., based in Dresden, Ohio, produces baskets, pottery, dinnerware and accessories and wrought-iron products that are sold through home shows.

JANE S. GLENN recently was named Boss of the Year at the Roanoke Valley Legal Secretaries Association's annual Bosses Night. She is a partner in the firm Jones & Glenn. Also, CONNIE VERON was named Member of the Year. She is employed at the law firm of Mundy, Rogers & Frith.
