BURNETT, Keith Chauncey, 57, of Moneta and formerly of Roanoke, died Friday, October 25, 1996. He was born in Sewell, Chile on January 25, 1939, a son of the late Chauncey Edward Burnett of Huddleston and the late Helene Rague Burnett of Staten Island, NY. He was an Spanish instructor at Staunton Military Academy for thirteen years. Following Staunton Military closure, he served as executive director of RADA, a public service agency, where he was instrumental in bringing the SHARE Program to the Southwest Virginia area. In Norton City Schools he was an Administrative Assistant and in Manassas Park, Va he served as school administrator. He later was a guidance counselor at Franklin County High School in Rocky Mount, VA. Keith received his Masters Degree in Education from the University of Virginia and was currently a teacher at Gretna High School. He was a communicant of Our Lady Of Nazareth Catholic Church, a Fourth Degree member of the Knights Of Columbus, and was a past member of the Civil Air Patrol. He is survived by his wife, Lou Anne Burnett, and a son, Christian Edward Burnett, both of Moneta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 2, 1996 at 2 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church in Moneta, VA with Fr. James J. Begley, and Fr. Juan Solanas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time, and a reception will follow afterwards to celebrate the life shared with Mr. Burnett. Arrangements are being handled by Carter-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.

CLARK, Ruby Leigh Mabe, 81, of Max Meadows, died Saturday, October 26, 1996. Funeral Saturday, 11 a.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel in Wytheville. Visitation Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

COLWELL, Mabel Thornton, 96, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday morning October 31, 1996. She was the widow of Eugene Edward Colwell and a long time member of Cave Spring Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Frances (Pat) and T.D. (Bo) Shelton, Roanoke; special companion, Brenda Lehrer, Roanoke; sister, Etta Thornton Harris, Forest; sister-in-law, Miss Annie Colwell, Salem; also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's South Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday with Dr. George Bowers and Dr. Woodrow Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. DIXON, Dorothy M. 49, of Troutville, died Wednesday, October 30, 1996. She is survived by her husband Bobby D. Dixon, son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Erica Dixon, daughter and son-in-law, Mona and David Masterson, mother and step-father, Elsie and Ike Jarels, brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Teresa Barnett, sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Ken Rouse, mother-in-law, Louise Dixon and three grandchildren all of Roanoke . ELLIS, Sidney Elvin, 59, of Salem, died Thursday, October 31, 1996 in Lewis Gale Hospital. A life long Salem resident and was preceded in death by his father, Samuel J. Ellis and a sister, Marlene DeHart. Survivors include his mother, Neva W. Ellis, Salem; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lionel and Darlene Ellis, Roanoke, Orville and Norma Ellis, Moneta; uncle, Newton Wade, Salem, aunts, Melba Harris, Salem, Alma Bryant, Roanoke. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 2 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. R. Stuart Carlton officiating. Friends will be received at the John M. FORREST, Wilmont Daniel, (``Bill""), 74, of 305 Wolf Street in Narrows, died Tuesday, October 29, 1996 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg, Va. Born in Elmira, N.Y., he was a son of the late Charles and Myrtle Strope Forrest. Bill distinguished himself by serving his country in the U.S. Navy in both WW II and the Korean War and was the father of the late Craig Charles Forrest. Surviving are his wife, Peggy Ann Peck Forrest; his daughter, Sandra Lynn Forrest of Oakland, Calif.; his grandson, Scott Daniel Forrest of Moneta; his sisters, Mrs. Leroy (Naomi) Burnham of Horseheads, N.Y. and Mrs. Richard (Jean) Coon of Horsehead, N.Y.; and his stepmother, Frances Forrest of Horseheads, N.Y. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside 1 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 1996 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, Va. There will be no public visitation time at the funeral home. FRAZIER, Ruth Conner, 89, of Salem, died Thursday, October 31, 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvia Bailey and Elmer Stuart Conner; her husband, Creed Fulton Frazier Jr.; grandson, Robert Lee Horne. She is survived daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Bobby Horne, Salem, Joyce and Bill Hill, Greenville, N.C.; daughters, June Bennett, Richmond, Joanne Ballentine, Salem, Julia Musgroove, Boone, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Creed S. and Becky Frazier, Salem; a brother and sister-in-law, Elmer B. and Betha Conner, Tallahassee, Fla.; sister, Lois Harvey, Charleston, W.Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Bob Mulligan, Athens, Ohio; she is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. JOHNSON, Eula Mae Palmer 74, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, October 30, 1996. She was born in West Virginia to the late Willie and Ora Lee Jordan Palmer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Johnson, her sister, Agusta Palmer and her brother, Alfred Lee Furline. Survivors include her daughter, Cugini Althea Johnson-Bond. Son-in-law, S. Lloyd Bond. Three grandchildren, Courtland Dontate Johnson, Destiney Signe Johnson and Lloyd Gasten Bond, Jr all of Roanoke. LAYMAN, William D., 94, of Roanoke, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at his home, Monday, October 21, 1996, with his family at his side. He is survived by his son, Cecil E. Layman, LaPine, Oregon; his grandson, Bruce Layman; and his great-grandchildren, Julia Layman, Annah Layman, Christina Layman and Christian Layman, all of Spokane, Wash.

LINEBERRY, Wilbur W., 80, of Rt. 1, Woodlawn, Va., died Wednesday, October 30, 1996 in the Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax. MARLAR, Harry Newton, 77, of 501 Harbor Ridge Drive, Goodview (Smith Mountain Lake), died Thursday, October 31, 1996 at his residence while surrounded by his family. He was born in Honeybee, Kentucky on July 21, 1919, a son of the late Daniel Thomas Marlar and Dicie Hughes Marlar. Harry was a retired computer specialist with the Army Corps of Engineers, a 24 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in World War II and Korea, and a Communicant of Resurrection Catholic Church at Moneta. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Marlar and Charles Marlar; one sister, Letha Marlar. A cherished husband, father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his wife, Patricia Goodard Marlar; two sons, John James Marlar, Herndon, Daniel Thomas Marlar, Richmond; one daughter, Winifred Mary Marlar, Fairfax; one brother, Martin Marlar, Whitley City, Ky.; four sisters, Lucy Mullins, Alpha Chasteen and Lou Moore, all of Richmond, Ind., Doris Thornburg, Perishing, Ind.; granddaughter, Elizabeth Marla r Konrad, Manassas; three grandsons, Kevin Michael Marlar, Blacksburg, Thomas Harry Marlar, Front Royal, Logan James Marlar, Blacksburg; one great-grandson, Matthew Harry Marlar, Blacksburg. MOORE, Wildia Faye Lyons, 57, of Hatcher Road, Dublin, Va., died Thursday, October 31, 1996 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born in Newbern, Virginia on January 29, 1939, and was the daughter of the late Ward Henderson Lyons and Helen Cox Lyons. She was a member of the Newbern United Methodist Church, and was a LPN at Pulaski Community Hospital for a number of years. Surviving are her husband, John Ralph Moore, Dublin; son and daughter-in-law, John Mark and Stephanie T. Moore, Dublin; one brother, Horace A. Lyons, Pulaski. SANDERS, Frances Currin, of Wytheville, died October 30, 1996 after a long illness. Miss Sanders, the daughter of the late Elizabeth Graham Sanders and Edwin Hanson Sanders, was born in Wythe County. Her family was prominent citizens of the County, active in farming, mining, and government. Miss Sanders attended Randolph-Macon Women's College, and graduated from the University of Iowa. She taught at Max Meadows High School and at high schools in Eastern Virginia. She is survived by her sister, Agnes Graham Sanders Riley of Lexington, Ky.; three nephews, Edwin Hanson Sanders, II of Honolulu, Hawaii, William Parks Riley of Claremont, Calif., Andrew Trigg Sanders, Jr. of Richmond, Va.; two nieces, Elizabeth Sanders Thomas of Atlanta, Ga., Susan Trigg Sanders of State College, Pennsylvania. A graveside service will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the East End Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Vaughn Hartsell. The Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

ST. CLAIR, Dorothy Hylton, 76, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, Octo ber 29, 1996. She was born in Roanoke Co. to the late Fitzhugh and Alethia Paige Hylton. She was preceded in death by husband, Cleasby (``Fuzzy"") St. Clair, and a daughter, Gloria St. Clair Martin. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Cleasby (``Pee Wee"") Jr. and Marie St. Clair of Hampton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice Webb of Roanoke, Cleatis and Marshall Ross of Rocky Mount, Eddie Martin; a brother and sister-in-law, D. Richard and Virginia Hilton of Roanoke County; a sister, Catherine (``Vee"") Hilton of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, Mia and Gregory Fittz, Aaron (``Ermie"") and Vickie Webb, Duane Webb, Eddie Martin, Shaun Martin, Candyce St. Clair and Mathew St. Clair; two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. UMBERGER, Mattie Cassell, 86, of Salem, died Thursday, October 31,1996 at her ho me. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. Umberger, Jr. and a daughter, Hattie U. Lewis. Surviving are a son, E. Bruce Umberger, III, Salem; two daughters and their spouses, Margaret and Sonny Umberger, Salem, Sylvia and Wayne (Bob) Ratliff, Roanoke; three grandchildren, Teresa R. WARING, Sara, 75, of Roanoke, and formerly of Daytona Beach, Fla., passed away Thursday, October 31, 1996, in a local hospital. Surviving are her brother, Carroll P. Rickerson and wife, Margaret, Virginia Beach; three nieces, Jo Anne Henderson, Titusville, Fla., Norma Jean Gable, Cadwell, Texas, Louise Murray, Bountiful, Utah; several other nieces and nephews; also a special friend, Dalton Flowers, Roanoke.
