Quarterback Frank English ran for 333 yards and four touchdowns Friday night to lead William Byrd to a 40-19 victory over Rockbridge County in a Blue Ridge District game in Lexington.

English scored on runs of 10, 56, 8 and 7 yards as Byrd (6-3 overall, 4-2 BRD) amassed 494 yards rushing against the Rockbridge defense. O.J. Thomasson had 138 yards on 22 carries and added two scores for the Terriers.

Rockbridge (3-6, 2-4), which trailed by only six points until Byrd erupted for 15 fourth-quarter points, was paced by sophomore Clay Hobson, who ran for 80 yards and consecutive kickoff returns of 87 and 81 yards for touchdowns in the third quarter.

The Wildcats were hindered by the loss of Travis Clark. The Rockbridge quarterback, who threw for 1,075 yards in the club's first eight games, broke his foot Tuesday in practice and is out for the season.
