Carter-Thompson
Karen Mason Carter and Roger Eugene Thompson are engaged and planning to be married July 12, 1997, in Roanoke. Karen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Carter of Roanoke. She graduated from Longwood College. Roger is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger A. Thompson of Roanoke. He attends Roanoke College.
Ferrell-Barger
Bob and Norma Foutz of Roanoke are pleased to announce, with love and best wishes, the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Dawn Ferrell, to Dewaynne Thomas Barger. Jennifer is also the daughter of the late Jack Ferrell.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of William Fleming High School and is pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education at Virginia Tech.
Dewaynne is the son of Daniel and Sheila Barger of Salem. He is a graduate of Salem High School and is pursuing a degree in Business at Virginia Western Community College. He is employed by Toys ``R'' Us.
A June wedding is planned.

Melanie J. Manning and Richard W. DeLong are engaged and planning to be married on June 7, 1997 in Roanoke. She is a daughter of Ralph and Donna Manning of Roanoke, and is employed by Dr. Neal S. Jessup of Vinton. He is a son of Marvin and Lynne DeLong of Hardy, and is employed by The Equitable Life Ins. Co. of Roanoke.
