* Jon Miller, the voice of the Baltimore Orioles for a generation of baseball fans, agreed to a five-year contract with the San Francisco Giants.
Miller, who apparently made owner Peter Angelos unhappy with his frank commentary on the team, said he would leave his heart in Baltimore even though he was pursuing his career 3,000 miles away.
Giants officials said Miller will handle play-by-play duties on KNBR radio and KTVU-TV in San Francisco. He replaces Hank Greenwald, who retired this year after 16 seasons with the Giants.
* Toni Stone, a black woman who helped shatter baseball's gender barrier by playing on a Negro League team in the 1950s, died Saturday in Oakland, Calif. She was 75.
Stone was signed in 1953 to play for the Indianapolis Clowns, one of the teams in the Negro National League. The next year she was traded to the Kansas City Monarchs, where she played for one year before retiring at 34.
