ROCKY MOUNT MAN THREATENED, ROBBED

A 38-year-old Rocky Mount man told Roanoke police he was robbed Sunday after being forced to drive to an unknown location.

The man was in a grocery store parking lot on Elm Avenue about 7 p.m. when two men with handguns approached him.

They forced him to drive them to a one-story brick building. There, he said, two masked men robbed him. One told him he would be killed if he ever returned to the area, police said.

Police reported two other robberies over the weekend:

A 16-year-old Southwest Roanoke boy was robbed and beaten early Sunday at the intersection of Melrose Avenue and Westside Boulevard Northwest.

The youth had used a pay phone about 1 a.m. and was returning to his car when five men, all wearing orange hats, pushed him to the ground, kicked him and took $300 from him.

A 40-year-old Northwest Roanoke man was stopped at the intersection of Elm Avenue and Fifth Street Southwest about 10 p.m. Saturday when a man approached the driver's side.

The man opened the door, pointed a gun at the driver and went through his pockets. The driver gave the robber his wallet, which contained about $70.

The robber fled north on Fifth Street.
