2 PEOPLE KILLED WHEN THEIR CAR COLLIDES WITH TREE

Two people were killed early Sunday morning after the car they were riding in hit a tree off Virginia 75, state police said.

James Michael Belcher, 46, of Abingdon and his passenger, Norma Woodyard Gravley, 36, of Dublin, died at the scene, a state police dispatcher said.

According to the investigating trooper's report, the car driven by Belcher was headed south on 75 when it ran off the left side of the road and hit a tree.

The accident occurred about three miles south of Abingdon.
