MOVIE RECALLS SLAYING OF VA. MARINE CAPTAIN

A made-for-TV movie will explore the slaying eight years ago of a Quantico Marine Corps Base officer whose husband was convicted of killing her even though her body was never found.

Capt. Shirley G. Russell, 29, was last seen about 1:30 p.m. on March 4, 1989, leaving her on-base residence for the Quantico exchange, witnesses testified.

A U.S. District Court jury in Alexandria convicted her husband, Robert Peter Russell, 34, of first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Filming of the drama about the slaying - ``Hide and Seek: The Joanne Jensen Story'' - is under way in Wilmington, N.C. The movie is scheduled to be completed Nov.20 for airing in April on the cable USA Network.

The story will be told from the perspective of Jensen, a Naval Investigation Service civilian who investigated the case.
