Role model requests

In anticipation of February's Black History Month celebration, WSLS-TV 10 is seeks nominations for its annual African-American Role Model Series.

The station requests nominations of citizens with remarkable achievements and dedication. High school students to senior citizens are eligible.

TV scholarships

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is offering two $20,000 scholarships to high school seniors who intend to major in television, telecommunications or related fields at a four-year college or university.

To be eligible, each recipient must demonstrate satisfactory progress toward a degree and remain in a communications-oriented program.

Applicants will be required to submit two creative essays - one on career aspirations and the other on the changes and challenges facing American television. Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) or American College Test (ACT) scores must be submitted with the application.
