PARRY MCCLUER WINS PIONEER DISTRICT TITLE

Parry McCluer clinched the Pioneer District title Saturday, winning a defensive battle with Bath County 14-7 in Hot Springs.

Robert Snider led the Fighting Blues (8-2 overall, 4-0 district) with 70 yards on 14 carries. Bath County (5-5, 1-3) was led by Anthony Pusey's 92 yards on 16 carries.

The loss ends the Chargers' season and gives Bland County a berth in the Region C Division I playoffs.

Martinsville 54, Patrick County 14: Marcus Hairston and Manti Venable scored three touchdowns each as the Bulldogs (9-1, 5-1) warmed up for the Group AA playoffs by routing the Cougars (1-9, 1-5) in a Piedmont District game in Martinsville.

Venable led a 339-yard rushing attack with 204 yards on 10 carries.

Martinsville travels to Magna Vista to open the Region IV Division 3 playoffs Friday. The Bulldogs and Magna Vista finish in a three-way tie with Bassett for the regular-season district championship.

Fieldale-Collinsville 70, Laurel Park 0: The Cavaliers' Kevin Franklin rushed 19 times for 289 yards and seven touchdowns against the Lancers in a Piedmont District game in Collinsville.

Diandre Bethel rushed for 101 yards on seven carries for the Cavaliers (5-5, 2-3). Joe Favero intercepted a pass and ran it back 36 yards for a touchdown and made all10 extra-point kicks. Five of Franklin's touchdown runs were of 27 yards or longer.

Staunton River 39, Appomattox County 14: The Golden Eagles ran all over the Raiders in Appomattox in their final Seminole District game of the season to advance to the playoffs in Region III Divison 4.

Staunton River (9-1, 5-1) amassed 406 yards of total offense. Kevin Martin rushed for 220 yards on 22 carries with four touchdowns. Teammate Jarrett Ferguson rushed for 121 yards on 16 carries.

Radford 31, Auburn 0: The Bobcats' defense stifled the Eagles in a Three Rivers District victory in Radford. Marlon Wesley ran 14 times for 101 yards and three touchdowns for the Bobcats (6-4, 3-2), and quarterback Adam Artrip completed seven of 12 passes for 108 yards.
