FLOYD COUNTY WINS DISTRICT TITLE

Floyd County's offense came to life in the third quarter Saturday and the Buffaloes cruised to a 46-35 win over Glenvar in the Three Rivers District championship game at Christiansburg High School.

Floyd County (22-2) got 11 points from Lisa Smith as the Buffaloes outscored the Highlanders 17-9 in the third quarter. Smith led Floyd County with 15 points and teammate Julie Sowers added 10.

The Highlanders (17-6) kept it close through the first half, trailing 23-17 at halftime. Glenvar was led by Amanda Kennedy's 11 points.

Both teams advance to the Region C playoffs with Floyd County playing at home and Glenvar traveling for its first-round game.
