BUFFALOES END SEASON ON HIGH NOTE

Floyd County fired the last salvo in an offensive shootout, edging Grayson County 38-34 on Monday night in a non-district football finale in Floyd.

Despite, the loss Grayson County (5-5) advances to Region C Division 1 playoffs. Floyd County (7-3) was left out in the cold in Division 2, where Bland County and Pocahontas (both also 7-3) were the qualifiers.

After the Blue Devils took the lead on Chad Carico's 19-yard touchdown run with 5:38 to play in the fourth quarter, the Buffaloes needed only two plays from scrimmage to go in front to stay. Nick Wohn's 55-yard scoring run was the difference, and Josh Dalton kicked the extra point.

Grayson County then drove to the Floyd 32-yard line, but the Buffaloes' defense held and they took over on downs with 1:24 to play. Floyd County then ran out the clock.

Wohn also scored on a 96-yard kickoff return and a 66-yard run. He finished with 181 yards rushing and had three returns for 156 yards.

Carico also had touchdown runs of 49 and 56 yards and totaled 181 yards on the ground.
