IN SERVICE WEST

CHARLES J. BEIRNE, son of John and Tirzah Beirne of Roanoke, has been awarded an Army ROTC scholarship to attend Virginia Military Institute for two years. This merit scholarship covers tuition, fees, books and $1,500 spending money.

Beirne is a 1994 graduate of William Byrd High School.

ARMY RESERVE PVT. TIMOTHY R. GARLAND, son of Thomas H. and Betty H. Garland of Roanoke, recently graduated from basic military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

MARINE SGT. RICHARD W. OLSEN, a 1991 graduate of Salem High School, recently was promoted to his present rank while serving with the 1st Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 36 in Okinawa, Japan.

MARINE CPL. TIMOTHY J. HEATH, son of John and Yvonne Heath of Roanoke, recently was promoted to his present rank while serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Ariz.

AIR FORCE STAFF SGT. DAVID C. WADE, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Harrington of Roanoke, recently received an associate degree in applied science from the Community College of the Air Force. Wade, a 1988 graduate of Cave Spring High School, is an F-15 mission ready technician instructor at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Fla.

MARINE PFC. BRIAN KOSKOand MARINE PFC JASON B. BERG recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Kosko, a 1995 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School, is the son of Linda and Victor Sisson II of Troutville.

Berg, a 1995 graduate of Cave Spring High School, is the son of James Berg of Roanoke.

NAVY AIRMAN JOSEPH E. DOOLEY, son of Edward and Lillian Dooley of Blue Ridge, recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Dooley is a 1996 graduate of Staunton River High School.

ARMY PVT. FORREST L. SEAGLE IV, son of Lem and Denise Battle of Salem and Forrest and Deb Seagle of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Seagle, a 1994 graduate of Cave Spring High School, is currently training in network switching systems at Fort Gordon, Ga.
