NEIGHBORHOOD NAMES

THE AMERICAN RED CROSS APPALACHIAN REGIONAL BLOOD SERVICES has elected new officers for the 1996-97 year. They are: Michael F. Urbanski, chairman; J. Larry Musselwhite, vice chairman; F. Courtney Hoge, secretary, and William J. Branscom, treasurer.

Members elected for a three-year term on the board of directors are: Branscom, M. Marci Cannon, Hoge, Dr. James Piggott, R. Coleman "Sam" Reid, and Edward B. Walker. R. William Johnson Jr. was elected to a one-year term.

BEVERLY AND HELEN FITZPATRICK received the Silver Hope Award for outstanding leadership and community service at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's "Dinner of Champions" last week at the Hotel Roanoke.

Beverly Fitzpatrick was an assistant commonwealth's attorney for Roanoke for five years before being appointed a judge for Roanoke's General District Cour,t where he established an Honor Court for alcoholics. He also served as president of the Jefferson Center Foundation.

Helen Fitzpatrick has been active in the community with organizations such as Junior League, Goodwill Industries, Blue Ridge Public Television, the Rescue Mission, Second Presbyterian Church and Richfield Retirement Communities.

The "Dinner of Champions" benefits national research programs and health services for 1,700 people in the Blue Ridge chapter with multiple sclerosis. MS is a disease of the central nervous system that most often affects adults aged 20-40. For more information, call 297-8687.
