ANDREWS, Caroline Snidow, 71, of Pembroke, departed this life Thursday morning, November 14, 1996, at her home following a long, gracious and heroic battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving and caring family and community through the length of her illness. Caroline was born in Pearisburg on November 3, 1925, a daughter of the late Frank Peck and Annie Neal Williams Snidow. Surviving are her husband, Judge Charles B. Andrews Sr.; five children, Pamela Sue of Orange Beach, Ala., Charles Burks Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Pembroke, Isaac Moon and his wife, Debbie, of Clarkston, Wash., John Summerfield of Centerville, and Neal Snidow of Pembroke; five grandchildren, Alicia Marie, Zachery Michael, Emily Elizabeth, Christen Suzanne, and Lauren Jennings; one sister, Mary Anne Atherton of Fallbrook, Calif.; one brother, Harvey C. Snidow of Richardson, Texas. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, November 16, 1996, at 6 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Pembroke with the Rev. Eddie Kendall and the Rev. Alan Harvey officiating. In keeping with Caroline's request, her remains will be buried in the Snidow Cemetery at Pembroke following cremation. It was Caroline's request that memorial contributions be made to the New River Valley Hospice at 111 W. Main St., Christiansburg, Va. 24073, or to Treasure Island Playground, c/o Pembroke Town Hall, Pembroke, Va. 24136. ARTHUR, James Albert, 92, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, November 13, 1996. He was a retired carpenter and former business agent for the local Carpenters Union. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Annie M. Powell Arthur; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William H. and Hazel Arthur, Goochland, Lewis and Linda Arthur, Fredericksburg; a sister, Ida Frazier, Martinsville; several nieces and nephews. CLARK, George B. Jr ., 77, of Henry Street, Marion, died Thursday, November 14, 1996, in the Smyth County Community Hospital. Mr. Clark was a native of Smyth County. He was a member of the Walker's Creek Presbyterian Chapel, and had retired from Harwood with over 30 years of employment. Survivors include his wife, Nannie Elizabeth Colley Clark, Marion; son and daughter-in-law, Sherman Ray and Linda Clark, Dublin; daughter, Carolyn Ramsey, Marion; two sons-in-law, Bob Ramsey and Everette Powell; three sisters, Virginia Richardson, Rustburg, Ida Evans, Princeton, W.Va., Maude Luhn, Mt. CUNDIFF, James Herman, 79, of Huddleston, passed away Thursday, November 14, 1996, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born August 21, 1917 in Franklin County, a son of the late Grover Ha rrison Cundiff Sr. and Minnie Turner Maxey Cundiff. He was a retired employee of the Lane Co., and was a member of the Mentow Baptist Church. Born August 14, 1907 in Campbell County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Tucker Evans and Emma Reed Evans. She was a member and a lifetime Deaconess of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church. GROSECLOSE, Lillian Neal Huddle, 91, of Galax, died Wednesday, November 13,1996, in the Waddell Nursing Center. Mrs. Groseclose, the daughter of Robert E. L. Huddle, Wythe County Supervisor, and Lily Walsh Huddle, was born at the Huddle homeplace in Wythe County. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister; and brother; and her husband, Charles S. Groseclose, M.D., who died in 1936. She attended Emory and Henry and Stonewall Academies, Central Washington State University in Ellensburg, Wash., and graduated at Radford State Teachers College in Virginia. She taught History and Government for 35 years in Virginia Schools (five of those years she taught upper elementary grades) and has lived in Galax since she retired in 1970. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Galax, and a past member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara Ann Bell of Overland, Kan., Roberta Jo and Edsel Rudy of Galax; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16, 1996, at 1 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Vicki Neese and the Rev. Don Nation officiating. HARMAN, Patricia Lee, 43, of Roanoke, passed away early Thursday morning, November 14, 1996 of a massive brain hemorrhage. She was the daughter of the late Kiah and Yolanda Ricci Harman. She was born in Welch, West, Va. and attended schools there. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke. She attended Virginia Western Community College and Bauder Fashion College in Atlanta. She is survived by a sister, Ann Fuller Harman and a brother James Kiah Harman and wife Judy; nephew and niece, John Martin Harman and Mary Beth Harman all of Roanoke; a host of aunts, uncles and counsins. SMITH, Rev. Beverly Albert, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 1996. He was born September 8,1911 in Blountville, Sullivan County, Tennessee. He was the son of William Albert and Eula Mae (Willen) Smith. He was educated in the Sullivan County Schools, Sullins College and Bridgewater College. Rev. Smith served pastorates in the Church of the Brethren for 40 years in Tennessee and Virginia. He served congregations at Pleasant Hill, Mountain Valley and Jonesborough, Tennessee and Summit( Bridgewater), Buena Vista and Christiansburg, Virginia. He served his church as District Moderator three times, served on the annual Conference and Standing Committees and served on various district commissions and committees. Mr. Smith married the former Phyllis Virginia Wine in 1943. They are the parents of H. Philip Smith of Christiansburg, Harriet S. Buchanan and her husband, Robert, of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jamie Dawn Smith (deceased), Larissa B. Ferguson and husband, Randal, Nicolette (Nikki) Buchanan, Justin Smith; great-granddaughter, Mary Kate Ferguson. Mr. Smith was the eldest of eight brothers and sisters, two of which are deceased. The Blacksburg native lived on St. Simons for eleven years, moving there from Mexico, Mo. She was a member of the Mexico United Methodist Church, the P.E.O. Sorority, and the Postscripts Group of St. Simons. She also attended Farmville State Teachers College in Farmville, and had resided in Brazil, England, and Venezuela. TRINKO, Rosalie Shea, 91, of Roanoke, passed away on Monday, November 11, 1996. She was born on March 4, 1905 in Knoxville, Tenn., and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. She taught at Preston Park Elementary School from 1953 to 1961 and at Breckinridge Jr. High School from 1961 until her retirement from the Roanoke City Public Schools in 1970. After her retirement, she taught several years at Otterburn Academy in Bedford. Her husband of 63 years, Arthur R. Trinko, passed away earlier this year. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Trinko Banister, Springfield; her son, Robert W. Trinko, Midlothian; five grandchildren, Caroline and Elizabeth Banister, Mark, Tracy, and Andrew Trinko; and two brothers, James and John Shea, Knoxville. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Steven R. Rule officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens

WEAVER, Rose Elizabeth Morgan, 81, of Hardy, died Thursday, November 14, 1996. She was a member of the White Rock Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #111 of Cheverley, Md. She was a retired Silver Haired Senator who represented Franklin County, Martinsville and Floyd. She was the widow of Hubert Earl Weaver. Surviving are a daughter, Aline Weaver Kent, Pelham, N.C.; a son, Eldridge Weaver, Mitchellville, Md.; stepdaugther, Margaret Weaver Worsham, South Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 18, 1996, with the Rev. Steve Witt and the Rev. Michael Kent Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to White Rock Baptist Church, Hardy, and would like to thank all other Christian friends for their prayers. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel after 11 a.m.Sunday.
