Assistance offered for brush removal
BLACKSBURG - The town's brush collection program has ended for this year, while leaf collection is under way, and will begin again on the third Friday in January.
The Department of Public Works advises residents that brush piled along the right-of-ways on property hampers snow removal operations and is actually a violation of the town code. For assistance in removing brush piles, residents may call 961-1142 for a "Special Pickup." The service fee is $20 plus the tipping fee at the landfill.
Schedules for future cleanup and collection programs will be included in residents' water bills prior to the beginning of each of the programs.
