Christina Kay Williams and James Garfield Lawson are engaged and planning to be married in June, 1997. Christina is the daughter of Calvin and Barbara Williams of Salem. She is a graduate of Salem High School, attends Va. Western Community College and is employed by Salem VA Medical Center. James is the son of Peggy Lawson of Rocky Mount and the late Walter Lawson, Sr. He is a graduate of William Fleming High School and is employed by Valley Rich Dairy.

The bride-to-be is Tonya Fenn Young, who is a graduate of William Fleming High School and Winston-Salem State University, Winston-Salem, N. C., where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration.
The future groom is Leonard Monroe Smith, Jr., who is a graduate of William Fleming High School, and served in the United States Air Force, Shaw A.F.B., Sumter, S. C., as an Inventory Management Specialist.
Their wedding date is set for May 24, 1997.
