RAVENS' QB TESTAVERDE INJURES RIBS NOTES FROM ASSOCIATED PRESS REPORTS

Baltimore quarterback Vinny Testaverde left Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers after sustaining a rib injury in the second quarter.

Testaverde was replaced by Eric Zeier.

Testaverde apparently took a shot to the rib cage when he was sacked for a 9-yard loss by linebacker Kevin Mitchell early in the second period. On the game's opening series, Testaverde threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to Michael Jackson.

In other NFL news:

SEAHAWKS: Chris Warren, a former standout at Ferrum College, sat out Seattle's 17-16 loss to Detroit because of injuries to his left knee and ankle. Lamar Smith took advantage of the seventh-year pro's absence, scoring one touchdown and rushing for 148 yards on 33 carries. Warren is expected to be ready for Sunday's home game against Oakland.

OTHER INJURIES: Saints guard Jim Dombrowski, an 11-year pro from the University of Virginia, fractured his right ankle against Atlanta.

New England rookie Terry Glenn, the top first-year receiver in the league, sustained a concussion against Denver. Rams rookie running back Lawrence Phillips, taken one spot ahead of Glenn in the draft, bruised his left knee.

Philadelphia lost running back Charlie Garner, who hurt his left ankle, and linebacker James Willis, who injured his right knee.

Carolina's Michael Bates, who leads the NFL with a 31.9-yard average on kickoff returns, injured his right knee in St.Louis. The Panthers also lost their other kick returner, Winslow Oliver, with a right ankle sprain.

Three Redskins - defensive linemen Marc Boutte and Sterling Palmer and linebacker Ken Harvey - aggravated existing knee strains.

Jets tackle David Williams left the game in Indianapolis in the first quarter with back spasms. A calf problem limited the Jets' other tackle, Jumbo Elliott, to only goal-line situations.

Derwin Gray, who made his first start of the season at safety for the Colts, missed most of the game with a sprained right ankle.

Bears wide receiver Michael Timpson bruised a knee in the second half in Kansas City, Mo. Chiefs tackle Jeff Criswell also had a bruised knee and was in and out of the game, leaving for good in the second half.
