The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday refused, without comment, to hear the appeal of a Virginia death row inmate who admitted taking $4,000 to kill a businessman's wife.
Marlon Dwayne Williams pleaded guilty to the November 1993 murder-for-hire of Helen Bedsole in Chesapeake. Her husband, Clark Bedsole, was sentenced to life in prison after a jury convicted him in August of setting up the contract killing.
The Virginia Supreme Court had ruled that Williams' sentence was ``neither excessive nor disproportionate.''
