Carter and Fannie P. Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Anthony. She is survived by three sisters, Lucille Proctor of Hempstead, N. Y., Thelma I. (John) Cobbs, Denver, Colorado and Christine (James ``Pete"") Morton of Radford; and two sisters-in-law, Priscilla Carter of Radford and Thelma Carter of Woodlawn. BILODEAU, Louise Delores Summers, 90, of Roanoke, went to be with her Lord Jesus on November 19, 1996 after a short illness. Louise lived most of her life in the Dumont, N.J. area, coming to Roanoke to be with her children during her recovery from surgery. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Louis Summers; her son, James L. Summers, and her daughter, June Montagnino. Surviving are her son, John D. Summers, Roanoke; her daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor Milius, Carolina Beach, N.C., Betty and Harold Crocker, Roanoke, Joan and Barry Gehm, Lake Hopatkong, N.J.; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Carol Summers, New Jersey; her son-in-law, Harry Montagnino, New Jersey; her sisters, Jean and Theresa, New Jersey. BLEVINS, Elma Grace Handy, 88, of Route 2, Dublin, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 1996, in Carilion Radford Community Hospital. Born on January 30, 1908, in North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Howard Lundy Handy and Fannie Porter Handy Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Grant Blevins; two daughters, Cathleen Blevins and Virginia Blevins; two sons, Curtis Blevins and Willard Blevins; two brothers, Luther Handy and the Rev. Paul Handy, and two sisters, Annie Martin and Wave Price. She was a member of Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Charlotte) Gravely of Salem, and Euna Faye Trail and Mrs. Frank (Judy) Winkle of Dublin; one son, Raymond (``Ray"") Vernis Blevins of Toledo, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Bob (Elizabeth) Wills of Dublin, Mrs. Fannie Burkey of Laurel, Md., and Mrs. Mae Ham of Chilhowie, and one brother, Jim Handy of Radford. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Jerry L. Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Mrs. Blevins will be taken to Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church, Montgomery Street, Cambria, by 10 a.m. Thursday, where she will lie in state. DILL, Ann Barksdale, 67, of Lynchburg, died Monday, November 18, 1996, at her home. Born in Lynchburg on August 15, 1929, she was the daughter of Elisha Barksdale, M.D., and Rosa McWane Barksdale Hahn. Mrs. Dill was preceded in death by her son, Donald George Dill III, and is survived by three daughters, Mary D. Gacek and her husband James D. Gacek of Roanoke, Susan Dill and her husband David Bertz of Hydesville, Calif., and Ann Dill of Mill Valley, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne B. Jones and R. DOOLEY, Ethel St. Clair, 81, of Rt. 3, Vinton, went to be with h er Lord on Tuesday, November 19, 1996. She was born August 24, 1915, in Bedford County, and was the daughter of the late Charles Vernon and Gertrude Dearing St. Clair. Mrs. Dooley was retired from Roanoke Mills and was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon R. St. Clair, Victor W. St. Clair, Clinton S. St. Clair; two sisters, Irene S. Hawkins, Clara S. Leonard. Surviving are her husband, Buster ``Bob"" Dooley; a sister, Nellie S. Gray, Vinton; numerous nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Helen Foutz, Mary Jane Light, Carolyn Loyd, Barbara Evans, and Norma Evans. JOHNSON, Yolanda Jane Taylor, 85, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, November 18, 1996. She was born in Floyd to the late Emory B. Sr. and Mary Etta Akers Taylor. She retired from the V.A. Medical Center, where she worked for many years as a nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry D. Johnson Sr.; and a sister, Margie McDaniel. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Sylvia A. Wade, Patricia V. and Donald Cabbler, all of Roanoke; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Harry D. Johnson Jr., Hubert T. Johnson, Cecil R. JORDAN, Myrtle Hopson, 66, of Roanoke, formerly of Blue Ridge, died suddenly Monday, November 18, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Jordan Jr. Mrs. Jordan was born in Bedford County and was reared in Botetourt County. She was a member of the Blue Ridge Baptist Church, where she served on the flower club. Mrs. Jordan devoted her entire adult life to rearing her five children. At an early age she was widowed and became an even stronger pillar for the Jordan family, becoming both a mother and father to her children. Survivors include her son, Alvin Melvin Jordan, Roanoke; daughters, Merle Jordan King and husband Leroy G. King, Troutville, Mary E. Jordan, Melinda Jordan Payne and Marsha A. Jordan, all of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Alvin Christopher Jordan, Roanoke, Lee Jordan King and Meredith Leigh King, Troutville, and Jamie Collin Payne, Roanoke. Also surviving area a host of relatives and friends. The funeral will be held on Thursday, November 21, at 11 a.m., Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home Chapel. McLAUGHLIN, John J., 79, of Rich Creek, died Monday, November 18, 1996, at a Pearisburg hospital. He was born May 18, 1917, in Frankford, W.Va., and was the son of the late Forest P. and Lula Feamster McLaughlin. He owned and operated, along with his wife, McLaughlin's in Rich Creek for 32 years. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the First Baptist Church in Rich Creek, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon for several years. He was a former member and past president of the Rich Creek Lions Club, and a member of the Princeton Elks Club. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Carr Hickman. Surviving is his wife, Thelma McNeill McLaughlin; one son, Cam and his wife, Theresa Sykes McLaughlin, of Blacksburg; two grandchildren, Emily and Ryan McLaughlin. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 1996, at the First Baptist Church in Rich Creek, with Rev. Alan Wilder officiating. THAXTON, John Anthony, 65, of Raleigh, N.C., died Monday, November 18, 1996. Mr. Thaxton was a native of Roanoke, Va. He was a 1954 graduate of VPI. Mr. Thaxton was a long-time resident of the Triangle Area, living in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. He was a charter member and past President of the Tarheel Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers. He recently retired as the property manager from The Pines of Carolina Girl Scouts Council. WATKINS, Nina Gertrude Givens, 95, of Radford passed away Tuesday, November 19, 1996 at her home. Born April 29, 1901 at Craigs Springs, Va. She was the daughter of the late Gordon Wiley and Laur a Grove Givens. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Marvin Ratliff. Survivors include, two daughters and one son-in-law, Dorothea and Shannon Hardwick, Blacksburg, Laura Page Ratliff, Craigs Springs; five grandchildren, Jay Hardwick, Monicka Dobbins, Ryland Ratliff, Cavin Ratliff; and a very special granddaughter and caregiver, Nina Rae Taylor; and six great-grandchildren. YONCE, Christopher Dale, (``Chris''), 17, of 937 Mashburn Avenue, Pulaski, passed away Monday, November 18, 1996, in the Columbia Pulaski Community Hospital as a result of an automobile accident on Route #11, Pulaski. Born August 16, 1979 in Pulaski, he was the son of Michael Dean Yonce and Judith Arlene Freeman Yonce. He was a member of the Dublin Church of God of Prophecy, Dublin. He was an honor roll student with a 4.08 average, member of Mountain Academic Conference Competition. He was also on the Pulaski County High School yearbook staff, and a member of the National Honor Society. He was a senior at Pulaski County High School, Dublin. He was preceded in death by his sister, Stephanie (Runt) Charlene Yonce. He is survived by his father, Michael Dean Yonce, Roanoke; mother, Judith Arlene Freeman Yonce, Pulaski; maternal grandfather, Ernest Carl Freeman, Austinville; maternal grandmother, Helen Eugene Linville Freeman, Pulaski; paternal grandparents, Robert Draper Yonce and Hilda Jean Via Yonce, Pulaski; paternal great-grandmother, Maxie Stoots, Pulaski; a number of aunts and uncles; a number of great-aunts and uncles; and a host of relatives and friends.
