VINTON HOLDS HOLIDAY EVENTS

The Vinton Chamber of Commerce will once again sponsor the Vinton Christmas Parade and Vinton Old-Fashioned Holly Days along with the Downtown Vinton Merchants.

The parade will begin at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5 with preparade activities starting at 6 p.m. The town Christmas trees will be lighted, and the William Bird High School Band, the Southernettes Baton Corp. and the Vinton Baptist Church choirs will perform.

Two days later, Dec. 7, the Old-Fashioned Holly Days festival gets under way at 10 a.m. with the town's first Children's Christmas Parade, which will come down Lee Avenue from Vinton Baptist to the Farmer's Market.

At 10:30 a.m., there will be children's bingo at VFW Post 4522 with prizes for everyone. At noon, all children can eat lunch with Santa.

Everyone can head to the Farmer's Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for crafts, wagon rides, free holly and cider and more. Pinnacle, a contemporary Christian group, will perform.
