Roanoke trash collectors next week are taking a two-day Thanksgiving holiday that may leave you a bit less than thankful, at least with regards to trash pickups.
Instead of trash collections a day late due to a holiday, yours may be picked up three days early. So you don't miss the garbage collectors, here's a rundown on how collections will work next week:
* There will be no residential trash collection Thursday or Friday. Residential trash normally collected on Thursdays will be collected three days early, on Monday. Residential trash normally collected on Friday will be collected Tuesday. Residents whose trash is normally collected on Monday and Tuesday should put their garbage out on those days.
* There will be no recycling collections Thursday or Friday. Customers on "A" recycling routes should put out their recyclables with their trash. "B" recycling route customers will not be affected.
* In the downtown Central Business District, there will be no collection Thursday. Collection will resume Friday.
* Commercial customers elsewhere who have their trash picked up Thursdays should put it out Monday. Those who have their trash collected Fridays should put it out Tuesday.
* There will be no bagged leaf collections. They'll resume Dec. 2.
