BOURAS, Vasiliki, 92, of Lexington, Kentucky and formerly of Pulaski, Va., passed away Wednesday, November 20, 1996 at her residence. She was born November 21, 1903. A native of Domianous Evrytania, Greece, she was a daughter of the late Nicolas and Martha Kokotinis. She was preceded in death by a son, Harry Bouras, Grandson George H. Bouras, two sisters, Chrisoula Skenderis and Demtroula Rantzos. Survivors include a daughter, Frances G. Stefanis, Lexington, KY; a daughter-in-law, Niki Bouras, Pulaski, Va.; a grandson, Dr. George S. Stefanis, Jr., Macon, GA; two granddaughters, Maria Maroulis and her husband Ted, Norfolk, Va. and Vicky Boudouris and her husband, James, Atlanta, GA. Trisagion services will be 7 p.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, on Sunday, November 24,1996. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Christ Episcopal Church, Pulaski, Va., with Father George Chioros officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Va. CARPER, Phyllis Carter, 78, of Pearisburg, died Thursday, November 21, 1996, in Lewis-Gale Hospital, Salem. Mrs. Carper was born in Roanoke, and was a daughter of the late John W. Carter Sr. and Evie Shorter Carter. Mrs. Carper was a member of the Pearisburg Presbyterian Church, an Elder of the Presbyterian Church, served as Worship Committee Chairman of the church, was a Past President of the Pearisburg Presbyterian Women, Circle Chairman on numerous times, she was awarded an honorary life membership in the Presbyterian Women. She was a Past President of the Pearisburg Women's Club and a member of the Giles County Historical Society. Phyllis was the widow of John W. (Bill) Carper. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Elliott (Doris) Halstead of Princeton, W.Va.; two brothers, John W. Carter Jr. of Princeton, W.Va., Edward D. Carter of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 23, 1996, at 11 a.m. in the Pearisburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Alan Harvey officiating, with interment to follow in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem. COFFEY, Rome A., 77, of Roanoke, died Friday, November 22, 1996. Mr. Coffey was a retired restaurateur, having come to Roanoke in 1961 to open Bailey's Cafeteria, and was active in the food business until 1984. Surviving are his wife of nearly fifty-three years, Jewell M. Coffey; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Roger K. and Alice Coffey, Sterling, Robert Allen Coffey, Roanoke; one grandson, Christopher Keith Coffey, Washington, D.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at t he graveside 1 p.m. Monday, November 25, 1996 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. FARMER, Carl R., 74, of Salem, died Friday, November 22, 1996, in the V.A. Medical Center in Salem. Born in Dublin and had been an area resident for many years. He had worked and retired from N&W Railway after 10 years of service and was a member of Moose Lodge #284 and was an Army World War II Veteran. Survivors include his wife, Helen Witt Farmer; a brother and sister-in-law, James K. and Verna Farmer, Roanoke; a sister, Kathleen Dotson, Roanoke; brother-in-law, Steve Cchi, Fox Lake, Illinois; many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dwayne J. Westerman officiating. FRITH, Douglas Herman, 87, of Glade Hill, died Friday, November 22, 1996, in a Roanoke hospital. Mr. Frith was a longtime member of the Glade Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby V. Frith. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, J. B. and Joyce Frith, Lake Placid, Fla., Dean and Glenda Frith, Graham, N.C.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Clarence Boyer, Roanoke, June and Ted Clay, Lake Placid, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; one sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Ike Kuper, Richmond; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Hugh and Ruth Frith, Lillian G. GRAY, Larry Michael, 60, of Roanoke County, died Friday morning, November 22, 1996. Larry served in the United States Navy, stationed at several naval communications stations, and was retired from AT&T Technologies, and more recently was a technician for Atlantic-Pacific Telecommunications. He was a member of North Roanoke Baptist Church, a member of the American Radio Relay League, the Amateur Radio Operator Extra Class K50UK, a member of the Quarter Century Wireless Association, and the Mobile Amateur Radio Awards Club. He was also an avid motorcyclist and a member of the American Motorcycle Association and the Ford Falcon Club. Larry was preceded in death by his sons, Tony Joseph Gray, Christopher Gray; and his stepfather, Robert G. Shieldes. Surviving are his wife, Anna M. Gray; his sons, Nicholas Gray, Washington, D.C., Nathan Gray, Sherman, Texas; his daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda and Jackie Atler, Gainesville, Texas, Tammie and Evan Brazeal, Sherman, Texas; his stepdaughters, Terry Maxwell and her husband, Joe, Chesapeake, Lisa Racel and her husband, Marc, Roanoke; his mother, Jessie Y. HARRIS, Thomas S., Sr., 76, of Roanoke, died Thursday, November 21, 1996 in the VA Medical Center, Salem. He was born in Rose Hill, Va. on March 9, 1920, a son of the late George and Minerva Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Garnett B. Harris, three brothers and one sister. He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas S. and Sandy Harris, Jr. of Hardy; daughter and son-in-law, Constance M. and Raymond N. Fortner of Sevierville, TN; grandchildren, Penny McCourt and her husband, Randy, Rock Creek, Ohio, Steven N. Fortner and his wife April, North Royalton, Ohio, Lisa Fortner and her special friend, Tony, Seymour, TN; great-grandchildren, Melissa, Nick, Steven II, Shelby. HOWARD, Rev. Leo Van, 58, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, November 21, 1996, following a lengthy illness. He was a Presbyterian minister with degrees from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary and Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University. For the first 10 years of his ministry, he served churches in Northport, Ala., and Houston, Texas. He received his clinical training at the Texas Medical Center, and was a diplomat in the American Assocation of Pastoral Counselors, a supervisor in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and was a licensed professional counselor. For 21 years, he was director of the Pastoral Counseling Center in Roanoke. Survivors are his wife, Mary Beth Howard; son, Andrew Hunter Howard, Roanoke; daughter, Amy Howard Owings, Christiansburg; mother, Mattee Boyd Howard, Starkville, Miss. Funeral services will be at the Second Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m. Monday, November 25, 1996, with Dr. Taylor Todd and Dr. Julianne L. Hollingsworth officiating. Entombment will be in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. JENNELLE, Robert Edwin, (``Bobby''), 64, of Pearisburg, died Tuesday, November 19, 1996, in McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond. Mr. Jennelle was born in Amherst on April 2, 1932, and was a son of the late Robert Early and Dollie DeHart Jennelle. Mr. Jennelle was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a former employee of APG Lime Co., Goldbond. Mr. Jennelle was also a member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Linda Carter Jennelle of Pearisburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim T. and Debbie Jennelle of Pearisburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jeff Mullins of Narrows; one brother, John Wayne Jennelle of Eggleston; one sister, Bebe J. McCroskey of Pearisburg; two grandchildren, Josh Jennelle and Andy Mullins. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 23, 1996, at 2 p.m. in the Givens Funeral Chapel, Pearisburg, with the Rev. KEGLEY, Irene Lindsey, 81, of Richmond, died at her home Thursday, November 21, 1996. She was born in Galax, February 24, 1915 to Curtis Lee Lindsey and Daisy Reavis Lindsey. Surviving are her husband, Marler G. Kegley, Richmond; one sister, Mrs. Margaret L. Williams, Galax; one brother, Bernard W. Lindsey Sr., Galax; and several nieces and nephews. SNYDER, W. Maurice, 85, of Buena Vista, died Friday, November 22, 1996, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born April 19, 1911 in Buena Vista, he was a son of the late Harry Calvin Snyder Sr. and Lillian S. Davis Snyder. Mr. Snyder was a World War II veteran. He retired after 39 years service as store manager at the Buena Vista ABC Store. He was a member of the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church, the American Legion, and a life member of the Buena Vista Rescue Squad. He is survived by his wife, Betty Moxley Snyder of Buena Vista; a son and daughter-in-law, Reed M. and Myrtle T. Snyder, Buena Vista; two grandchildren, Lorie Snyder Sill, Richmond, and Sharon Snyder Lindsey, Plant City, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Brandon York and Jessee Sill, both of Richmond, and Sarah Lindsey, Plant City, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, L. TAYLOR, Marc Christopher, 28, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Cedar Bluff, Va., died Wednesday, November 20, 1996, in a Houston, Texas hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in Richlands, Va. and was a son of Bill Reece and Nancy H. Honaker Taylor of Cedar Bluff, Va. He was a 1986 graduate of Richlands High School and was a member of the Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, receiving his B.S. Degree in 1990 and was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He was also very active in the Wesley Foundation, a campus ministry of the United Methodist Church. He had made his home in Houston for the past four years and was employed as a social worker with Texas Mental Health and Retardation Board. Survivors, in addition to his parents, are one brother and sister-in-law, Frank William and Sarah Buchanan Taylor, II of Rosedale, Va.; one nephew, Frank William Taylor, III; one aunt, Betty H. Bryant of Wytheville, Va.; one uncle and aunt, James E. and Connie G. Honaker of Tazewell, Va.; three cousins, Jim Honaker, David Honaker and Robert H. Bryant, Jr.; a life-long friend, Matthew Rasnake; a friend, Joe Garcia; his special love, Eva Miller; and his dog, Bezzy. Many other friends also survive because he was loved by all who knew him. Funeral services for Mr. Marc Christopher Taylor will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Va., with the Rev. Olin Shupe officiating. Interment will follow at Hankins Cemetery in Richlands, where he will rest beside his grandmother, Mrs. lena Goodwin ``Nene"" Honaker. VanNESS, Clayborne Grabill, of Eagle Rock, died at his home Friday morning, November 22, 1996. He was 90 years old. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jo Ann VanNess and Edith VanNess. He is survived by his wife, Ruby VanNess; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Ronda VanNess, Gary and Elaine VanNess, all of Eagle Rock; three daughters and sons-in-law, Iris and Larry Corb in of Dale City, Va., Shirley and Murray Barnes of Roanoke and Hilda Smith of Wertz; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, November 24, 1996, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. WEBB, Carolyn Nester, 45 of Salem, died Wednesday, November 20, 1996 in a local nursing center. Survivors include her ex-husband, Mark J. Webb of Salem; sons and daughter-in-law, Stacy E. and Karen H. Webb of Goodview, Danny R. Webb of Va. Beach; granddaughter, Kacy Carolyn Webb; brothers, Robert Nester, Donnie Nester both of Salem, and Raymond Nester of Roanoke. A memorial service was held on Friday, November 22, 1996 at 7 p.m. in the John M. Oakey and Son Chapel in Salem.

WHITMORE, Claudine Burkholder, 84, of Marion, passed away Friday, November 22, 1996, at the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion following a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. E. B. J. Whitmore Jr. in 1977. She was born on September 25, 1912 in Bedford County to John Warren Burkholder and Annie Maude Atkinson Burkholder. She attended public school in Richmond, and was a graduate of the St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing, also in Richmond. She did graduate work at the Medical College of Virginia, the University of Virginia, and Johns Hopkins University. She served as Director of Nursing at Petersburg General Hospital and later returned as Assistant Superintendent of St. Elizabeth's Hospital. During World War II she was the nursing representative for Virginia to the Roosevelt Commission and helped design what later became known as the Civil Defense Program. She also served as an instructor of nursing for the Public Health Service. She relocated to Marion in 1955 from Petersburg with her husband and family. She was active in Christ Episcopal Church in Marion and served in various capacities, including president of the church women and as a vestry member. She was active in civic affairs and served as a pink lady at Smyth County Community Hospital for over 30 years. She is survived by two sons, Edwin B. J. Whitmore III of Marion, and John W. Whitmore of Roanoke; two daughters, Ann W. Whitmore of Marion, and Mary W. Barton of Fredericksburg. In addition, she is survive d by six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the scholarship fund at Christ Episcopal Church, 409 West Main St., Marion, Va. 24354. The family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday, November 23, at Christ Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held Monday, November 25, at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Michael Zumpf and the Rev. Edgar Ferrell officiating. WOOD, Mona Burgess, 62, of Dublin, passed away Thursday, November 21, 1996, at Radford Community Hospital. She was a member of the Mt. View United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard O. and Lakie Phillips Burgess; and also by her stepmother, Mary Burgess. Survivors include her husband, Joseph M. Wood; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Ivan Baker of Elkhart, Ind., and Connie and Benjamin Bell of Christiansburg; brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Nancy Burgess of Chester; four sisters-in-law, Claudine Belcher and Alzora Wood, both of Floyd, Lorna and Arnold Conner of Meadows of Dan, and Ruth and Roddy Martin of Christiansburg; one brother-in-law, Charles and Nelene Wood of Floyd. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 24, 1996, at 2 p.m. at the Mt. View United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barry Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Seaver-Saunders & Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

WYANT, William Moses, 74, of Christiansburg, died Thursday, November 21, 1996, in the Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was a retired employee of RAAP. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 23, at the graveside in Sunset Cemetery. The Rev. Dewey Weaver will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.
