FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED IN DEATHS

Police said a window appeared to have been forced open in the home of a couple whose bodies were discovered early Tuesday.

Elizabeth Kendrick and her husband, Jesse, appeared to have been dead for several days, said Danville Police Maj. B.C. Elliot.

Police suspect murder, but did not reveal a possible motive.

Police were called to the Cabin Creek condominiums after the Kendricks' daughter could get no one to answer the door. The daughter also noticed the couple's car was missing.

The missing car, a 1988 Buick, was found nearby, Elliot said.

The bodies have been sent to Roanoke for autopsies.

A neighbor, Bonnie Adkins, said Jessie Kendrick liked to garden, while Elizabeth Kendrick enjoyed baking.

``They didn't bother anybody,'' Adkins said.

Adkins said the couple's daughter was in town to visit her parents for the Thanksgiving holiday. When the parents failed to pick her up at the airport Monday night, she got a ride to their home.

After getting no answer at the door on Monday, the daughter spent the night at an aunt's house across the street, Adkins said. The next morning neighbors persuaded the daughter to call the police.
