NLRB to tangle with newspaper unions
DETROIT - The National Labor Relations Board plans to recommend contempt of court charges against striking Detroit newspaper unions, a local NLRB official said.
The unions allegedly have violated a July agreement with the newspapers in which they promised to refrain from violence, coercion and threats against the newspapers and their employees.
Six union locals have been on strike against The Detroit News, the Detroit Free Press and Detroit Newspapers Inc., the papers' joint business and production agency, since July 1995.
