Virginia Tech's second cold-shooting start in as many days doomed the Hokies to a 72-63 loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday in the consolation bracket of the Rainbow Wahine Classic in Honolulu.
Tech (1-2) hit only 32 percent of its field-goal attempts in the opening 20 minutes, after making 21 percent Friday in a loss to Michigan.
Latia Howard led the Panthers (1-2) with 23 points. Freshman center Kim Seaver continued her strong start for Tech with 16 points. Guard Sherry Banks (William Byrd) had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
St. Joseph's 87, Radford 69: The Hawks forced 32 turnovers as they rolled past the Highlanders in the first round of the Duke Classic in Durham, N.C.
Amy Facer scored 22 points to lead St.Joseph's (3-0). Jennifer Grant went 5-for-5 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line to lead Radford (0-4) with 14 points.
