Radford chamber to present award

RADFORD - The Radford Chamber of Commerce's fourth quarterly luncheon will feature the presentation of the annual Small Business Award.

The luncheon will be Tuesday from noon to 1:15 p.m. at Damon's Restaurant in the Best Western Inn on Tyler Avenue.

Jerry King of Kreative Kommunications will speak on "Listen Up - Using Humor to Reduce Stress."

20 complete leadership course

CHRISTIANSBURG - Twenty area business people from a variety of companies, agencies, Radford University and Virginia Tech completed the nine-week 1996 Leadership New River Valley program.

The program considered a range of business issues, including presentations, the Internet, time management, starting a small business, and operating a small business.

The class was divided into groups, each of which completed a case study. The topics were "Infrastructure Needs and Improvement," "Electronic Challenges and Opportunities," " Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities" and "Vocational Education and Workforce Training."

Those who completed the program were: Rosemary Haynes, Will Hoover, Ronald Poulton, Andy Reed, Sheila Roop, Randy Shake, Cindy Adair, Sandra Daniels, Dale Henderson, C.N. Herbert Jr., Marcy N. Jay, Sarah Newbill, Maureen O'Quinn, Virginia Ousley, Lara Ramsey, Cindy Spangler, Debra Swetnam, Chuck Thomas, Tim Wilson and Stephanie Wood.

Christiansburg chamber sets membership drive

CHRISTIANSBURG - The Christiansburg-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce will hold its 1996 Membership Campaign Thursday, Friday and Dec. 8 from the Blacksburg offices of Blue Ridge Cellular.

Teams of chamber members will compete for cash and airline tickets to see who can sign up the most new members. Several teams have already formed, and others are looking for members. To participate, call the chamber at 382-4251 or Karen Travis, chairwoman of the membership drive, at 639-2461.

Professional women plan holiday auction

RADFORD - The Radford Business and Professional Women will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Best Western Inn for their annual Christmas auction.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit the chapter's scholarship fund. For information, call 639-0037.
