Burton-Quinn

Stephanie Quinn and Shannon Burton were married Saturday, November 30, at Franklin Heights Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, Va.

The ceremony was performed by Reverend Mark Griffith, Associate Pastor.

The bride is the daughter of Ms. Donna B. Quinn of Salem and Mr. Lonnie M. Quinn of Ferrum, Va. She is the granddaughter of Fred and Larmie Ingram, and Roy and Gladys Quinn, all of Ferrum, Va.

The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Burton of Vinton.

The bride was escorted by her cousin, George M. Frye II, and given in marriage by her family.

Maid of honor was Jennifer Rakes of Rocky Mount. Bridesmaids were Sarah Hill of Arlington and Debbie Elkins of Ferrum, cousins of the br ide; Angela Burton of Vinton, sister-in-law of the groom; Rochelle Callahan of Callaway, and Shonda Powers of Roanoke.

Best man was Donald Burton, father of the groom. Ushers were David Burton of Vinton, brother of the groom; George Frye, Glade Hill, Porter Booth, Jeffrey Mullen, and Thomas J. Rogers, all of Roanoke.

Flowergirl was Miranda Quinn of Ferrum, sister of the bride. Ringbearer was Bradley Elkins of Ferrum, cousin of the bride. Guestbook attendants were Dana Miller of Glade Hill and Sherry Cundiff of Rocky Mount.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church social hall.

The bride is a graduate of Franklin County High School and Virginia Western Community College, and is currently attending Radford University. She is employed by Carilion.

The groom is a graduate of William Byrd High School, and is also employed by Carilion.

After a Caribbean cruise the couple will reside in Roanoke.

Cartwright-Gibson

Amanda Susanne Gibson and Warren Johnson Cartwright were married November 30 in Troutville Baptist Church. Dr. Ray Frazier officiated. The reception was held at the Airport Holiday Inn.

The matron of honor was Mary Anne Carter, friend of the bride.

The best man was Mike Schwartz, friend of the groom. The ushers were Jeff and Adam Smith, cousins of the bride.

The guestbook was attended by James Cartwright, nephew of groom.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Gibson of Troutville. She is a graduate of Radford University School of Nursing in Radford. She is employed by Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Cartwright of Pulaski. He attends Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke and is employed by Texas Steak House.

The newlyweds will live in Roanoke, VA.

Hairston-Dove

Marsha Jean Hairston of Winston-Salem and Jacob Dove, Jr., of Roanoke, VA, will be married January 11, 1997 in the Davis Memorial Chapel at N.C. Baptist Hospital.

Miss Hairston is the daughter of Mrs. Bessie Hairston and the late Mr. Marshall Hairston, both of Winston-Salem. She received a baccalaureate degree from Hampton University and a master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is employed as a social worker at N.C. Baptist Hospital.

Mr. Dove is the son of the late Mr. Jacob Dove, Sr., and the late Mrs. Missouri Dove of Havelock, North Carolina. He received both the baccalaureate and master's degree from East Carolina University. He is employed as a Regional Human Resources Manager for the First Citizens Bankshares.

Hash-Simmons

Susan Annette Simmons and E. Ray Hash were married on November 30, 1996 at Red Hill Church of the Brethren. Dr. G. Ernest Deyerle II officiated the noon ceremony. A luncheon reception followed at LaMaison.

The parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond A. Simmons of Roanoke. The grandmothers of the bride are Mrs. Irene Schillen and Mrs. Dottie Simmons of Roanoke. The parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Hash of Woodbridge.|

The bride's son, Evan Jacobs, served as her ring attendant and provided a scripture reading. The groom's son, Brian Hash of Blacksburg, served as best man. The matron of honor was Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bryant of Vinton, sister of the bride. Mr. James Bryant of Vinton, brother-in-law of the bride, served as usher.

Ms. Kim Pitts, soloist, and Mrs. Julie Beatty, organist, provided a selection of music at the ceremony. Ms. Melody Kelley and Miss Kendal Payne served as greeting hostesses. The wedding directo r was Mrs. Deanna Munsey. Photography was provided by Mr. Greg King.|

The bride is a graduate of Averett College and is employed by the County of Roanoke as Senior Certified General Appraiser. The groom is a graduate of George Mason University and serves as Director of Housing for STEP Inc. of Rocky Mount.|

After a trip to Oahu and Maui, Hawaii, the new family will make their home in Roanoke County.

Jarvis-Cundiff

Angela Lacey Cundiff and Patrick Troy Jarvis were married November 30, 1996 in Blacksburg United Methodist Church. Rev. A. Woodrow Laine officiated. The reception was held at Custom Catering Center with disc jockey Earl Brown.

The maid of honor was Stacey Renee Eubank, friend of the bride. The matron of honor was Michelle Jones Cundiff, the bride's sister-in-law. The bridesmaids were Pamela Jean Stone, Tracy Leigh Carroll and Erin Elizabeth Cline, friends of the bride. The flowergirl was Kimberly Ann Loyd, friend of the bride.

The best man was Matthew Reid Jarvis, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Layne Hamilton Cundiff, brother of the bride; Charles Timothy Howes, brother of the groom; Matthew Bryant Williams, friend of the groom; John Stephen Thacker and Randall Wayne Caldwell, friends of the bride and groom; and Larry Dean Jones, friend of the bride. The ringbearer was Nickolas Andrew Cundiff, nephew of the bride.

The programs were attended by Sarah Anne Du Pont. The guestbook was attended by Kelley Janene Howes. The director of the wedding was Linda Smith Bland.

The bride's gown was a silk shantung sheath gown with detachable chapel train. She carried a silk floral cascade bouquet designed by her mother.

The bride is a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Skelton Cundiff of Blacksburg, Virginia. She is a graduate of Blacksburg High School in Blacksburg, Virginia, and will graduate from Virginia Tech, also in Blacksburg, in May, 1997.

The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Howes, Jr. of Tallahassee, Florida and Mr. and Mrs. Clegg W. Jarvis of Thomasville, Georgia. He is a graduate of North Florida Christian High School in Tallahassee, Florida, and serves in the United States Army.

Koppelman-Dellinger

Katherine Cates Dellinger and David Peter Koppelman were united in marriage in an outdoor evening ceremony Saturday, August 3, at Westfields in Chantilly. A reception followed in the Westfields Jeff ersonian Ballroom.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents, Paul and Maxine Dellinger of Wytheville. The groom is the son of Arthur and Karen Koppelman of Syosset, NY.

Soo Park of Falls Church and Carol Ryan of Wytheville were co-maids of honor. The other attendants were Anjoli Verandani, Richmond; Eva Turpin, Charlotte, N.C.; Kimya Bailey, Arlington, and Robin Koppelman, sister of the groom, New York City.

Co-best men were Mike Menkes of San Francisco and Jayson Prisand, New York City. The other groomsmen were Todd Bazarnik and Scott Pisand, New York City; Steve Bedell, Morristown, N.J.; David Ginsberg, Danville, and Mark Dellinger, brother of the bride, Morgantown, W.Va.

The ceremony was conducted by Pastor Roger L. Dahlin of Saint Mark's Lutheran Church, Springfield, and Cantor Siegfried Rowe, Bayit Shel Shalom Synagogue, Columbia, Md.

The bride wore a gown of white satin and Schiffli embroidery. The satin fichu collar was trimmed with pearls and beaded medallions. The gown featured a princess bodice accented with beaded Schiffli embroidery. The basque waistline was finished at the back waist with a satin bow. The full satin ballgown skirt was embellished with embroidered lace medallions. The semi-cathedral train featured insets of English net and beaded medallions. Schiffli hemlace trimmed the entire skirt and train. She also wore a crystal and pearl tiara from her mother's bridal gown, and a pencil-edge double tier veiling of white illusion.

The bride is a graduate of George Wythe High School and the University of Virginia, and a second-year student at the George Mason University School of Law. The groom is a graduate of Syosset High School and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Virginia. He teaches at Tuckahoe Elementary School in Arlington.

Following a trip to the Hawaiian Islands, the couple is living in Arlington.

Lacks-Barton

Cynthia Gail Barton and Harold Noland Lacks Jr. were united in marriage Saturday, November 11 at the Northside Christian Church in Roanoke. The Rev. Paul Hatfield was the officiating minister.|

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. June Barton of Vinton and the late Dallas Barton. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lacks Sr. of Covington.|

The bride is employed by the City of Roanoke Parks and Recreation Department. The groom is employed by United Parcel Service.|

The couple will reside in Roanoke.

Lawson-Williams

Christie Michelle Williams and James Chad Lawson were married August 17, 1996, in an outdoor ceremony at the summer home of the bride's parents at Smith Mountain Lake, Va. The Rev. Mr. James S. Angle officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry W. Williams of Rocky Mount, Va. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale M. Blankenship of Powhatan, Va., and the late Mr. James W. Lawson.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Tanya Fralin, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Flower girls wre Brooke and Taylor Blankenship, nieces of the groom. Mr. Blankenship served as the best man.

Music for the wedding was provided by Dr. Erma Rose, organist, and Stuart Blankenship, vocalist. The guestbook was attended by Lori Taylor and the wedding was directed by Brenda Wagner and Vicki Taylor.

A barbeque reception followed the ceremony and music was provided by Mr. Jodie Davis.

The bride attended Franklin County High School and graduated from Ferrum College. She is a customer service representative with Capital One Financial Services, Richmond. The groom attended Powhatan High School and graduated from Ferrum College. He is an accountant with General Medical Corporation, Richmond.

After a honeymoon in the Bahamas, the couple resides in Richmond.

Lopez-Redmond

The Calvary Christian Church, Pembroke, Virginia, was the site of the October 12, 1996, 4:00 p.m. wedding of Marianne Redmond and Gary R. Lopez, Jr. The Reverend E. ``Bobby'' Sutphin officiated the double ring ceremony. The reception was held in the church fellowship hall.

The bride is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. E.C. Redmond, Jr. of Bland County. She attended Giles High School, Mary Washington College and Virginia Commonwealth University. She is employed by Blacksburg Middle School After School Activities Program as director and the New River Community Services. The groom is the son of Ms. Regina Hornbarger of Christiansburg. He is attending New River Community College and is employed by Sears Automotive in Roanoke, Va.

The maid of honor was Rosemary Robinson, close friend of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was Miss Anne Morgan Pates, special friend of the bride. Linzie Hornbarger, sister of the groom, was the flowergirl. Best man was Courtney Cormier, close friend of the groom. The ushers were Troy Coles and Glenn Robinson, friends of the groom.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a handmade cream floor-length gown featuring a high neckline, a lace overlay accenting a V-point on front of the dress, long bloused hand-pointed sleeves, fitted bodice which ended in a V-point that cascaded into a full shift. Her fingertip illusion veil was attached to a lace covered southern-style hat featuring multiple bows. She carried a silk bouquet created by her aunt, Mrs. Marion Gray.

Special music was provided by Mrs. Lois Robinson (pianist), with the song ``IF'' sung by a close family friend, Ms. Patricia Hoffman. The bride's father provided scripture reading and special reading of poetry. Photography was provided by Mr. Daniel K. Redmond, brother of the groom.

The newlyweds honeymooned on a week-long cruise to the Southern Caribbean and upon return are currently living in Elliston, Va.

The couple would especially like to thank Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Redmond, Dan Redmond, nine special teachers of Giles High School, six special aunts, Calvary Christian Church, Mechanicsburg Christian Church, and Bland Christian Church for their enormous help in preparation of our special day.

Manns-Bruce

Jacqueline H. Bruce & Charles L. Manns were married on their shared birthday, November 29, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jacqueline is the daughter of Mrs. Ernestine H. Johnson and the late Mr. Robert T. Johnson.

Charles is the son of Mrs. Nettie B. Manns and the late Mr. Warren Manns, Sr.

Jacqueline is employed by Roanoke City Public Schools. Charles is employed by Norfolk Southern.

Martin-Andrews

Arlain Gail Andrews and Michael Robert Martin were married on October 26, 1996 at 5:00 p.m. in the evening at Grandin Court Baptist Church in Roanoke. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Pastor Phillip Motley.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her stepfather. Susan Maloney, friend of the bride, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Cathy McCleary, friend of the bride; Jess Martin, Sue Cundiff and Molly Martin, sisters of the groom.

John Martin, father of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were Jue Walz and Eddie Anderson, friends of the groom; and Tom Cundiff, brother-in-law of the groom.

The organist was Jim McConnell. Soloist was Carol Lunsford. The mistress of ceremonies was Julie McHugh, friend of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orin Moses of Roanoke. The bride is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and is employed as the Marketing Assistant at Tanglewood Mall.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joh n Martin of Roanoke. The groom is a graduate of Northeast High School in Northeast, Pennsylvania, and attended Edinboro University. He is employed by Rowe Furniture.

The reception was held at the Fitzpatrick Hall in the Jefferson Center. Music was provided by the Southwind Band.

After a honeymoon in Orlando, Florida, the couple has resided in Roanoke.

Moore-Cook

Mary Laura Cook and David William Moore were married November 30, 1996, in Bonsack United Methodist Church with Rev. John Ashley officiating. The reception was held at Bonsack United Methodist Church and catered by Wilson's. The maid of honor was Meg Gianakouras. She wore a burgundy velvet gown designed by Alfred Angelo. Bridesmaids were Holly Weikel; Lisa Bryant and Lisa Christensen, cousins of bride; Lesley Petain, sister of groom, Rhonda Gober, cousin of groom. They wore green velvet dresses. Flower girls were Sarah Taylor, cousin of bride, and April Payton, niece of groom.

William H. Moore, Jr., served as best man. Ushers included Ricky Switzer, uncle of bride, Jacob Grissom and Nathan Moore, brother of groom, Jim Gober, cousin of groom, Danny Bryant, cousin of bride, Ron Brooks, cousin of groom, Nick Petain, brother-in-law of groom,. Ring bearers were Trey Gober, nephew of groom, and Josh Taylor, cousin of bride. Miniature bride and groom were Ashley Payton, niece of groom, and E. M. Cook, brother of bride. Train bearers were Chris and Tracy Christensen, cousins of bride.

The wedding director was Brenda Brooks, aunt of groom; Jane Burks, pianist; Wayne and Lisa Taylor, vocalists; Elvis Allynn, entertainment at reception; photography by Warren Gilbert; flowers by Cuts Creative. A rehearsal dinner was held at Bonsack United Methodist Church and a wedding breakfast was held Sunday, December 1, at the Regency Room, Hotel Roanoke.

The bride wore a satin gown designed by Mori-Lee. It featured a sculptured V-neck and long tapered sleeves. The basque waistline was accented with intricate pearl and sequin appliques. The skirt and peplum were covered with Battenburg lace and sequins. The back of the gown was accented with rosettes and fell into a full chapel train.

The bride is the daughter of Edwin and Dana Cook, Roanoke. The groom is the son of William and Bonnie Moore, Hinesville, Ga. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke after a wedding trip to an undisclosed location.

Richardson-Howe

Elizabeth Ann Howe and Scott Morgan Richardson were married September 7, 1996 at Alamo Heights Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Richard and Linda Howe of San Antonio; he is the son of E.L. (Ted) and Pat Richardson of Roanoke.

The bride's sister, Kathryn, was maid of honor and Jonathon Chow served as best man. The groom's young nephew, Harrison Van Waes, was ring bearer. Following an evening reception the couple left for a honeymoon in Hawaii.

The groom, a graduate of Virginia Tech, recently received his Ph.D. in Engineering from Stanford and the bride is currently completing her Ph.D. program at the same university. They reside in Redwood City, California.

Roy-Anderson

Stephanie Lynn Anderson and Bobby Lee Roy were married November 25, 1996, in Roanoke, Va. The bride is the daug hter of Randall Edward Anderson and Patricia Wood Anderson, Vinton. She graduated from William Byrd High School, Vinton. The groom is the son of Melvin W. Roy, Christiansburg, Va., and Shirley Jean Bryant, Roanoke. He graduated from Harrison High School, Harrisonburg, Va., and is employed by Perfection Auto body. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke

Trivett-Hillman

Jeanne Lackey Hillman and James Robert Trivett were united in marriage at 12 noon, Friday, November 29, 1996, at Fairlawn Presbyterian Church in Radford, VA. William H. Jackson, minister, performed the ceremony, which was followed by a reception at the church.

The bride is the daughter of Norma Hall and the late Dr. Robert E. Lackey, both of Martinsville. She received both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from VPI & SU and is employed as an English teacher at Pulaski County High School.

The groom is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William J. Trivett of Springfield, NJ. He attended Union and Sommerset Community Colleges and Rutgers University and is self-employed.

The bride was escorted and given by her brother, Robert E. Lackey, Jr. of Dallas, Texas. The groom's daughter, Christen Lee Trivett of Narrows, was maid of honor. The best man was Robert Grosshans of Colonia, NJ. Adam Grosshans was the ringbearer. Frank Kasik of Pulaski provided guitar music for the ceremony.

The couple will reside in Dublin, VA.

Tucker-Taliaferro

Maxine W. Taliaferro and Beverly L. Tucker were married November 17, 1996, in Ninth Street Church of the Brethren with Rev. Graham Sowers officiating. The bride is a retired nurse from Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The groom is retired from Norfolk Southern. The newlyweds will live in Ro anoke
