Florida has received an oral commitment from quarterback Tim Olmstead, rated the No. 3 prospect in Virginia by The Roanoke Times.
Olmstead, rated the No.8 quarterback prospect in the country by SuperPrep magazine, picked the Gators over Tennessee and Virginia.
Olmstead, from Binghamton, N.Y., is in his fourth year at Woodberry Forest School in Orange. He completed 121 of 223 passes for 1,898 yards and 21 touchdowns this past season.
Olmstead, the brother of a Florida graduate, informed coach Steve Spurrier of his decision before the Gators' game Saturday with Florida State. Spurrier had made a weekly habit of calling Olmstead after Florida's practices on Wednesdays.
