CRAGHEAD, Eva Jacobs, 82, our dear and precious mother, went to be with Jesus on Monday, December 2, 1996. She joins her beloved husband, Jennings Bruce Craghead; their little girl, Barbara Ann; her dear parents, John Moorman Jacobs and Sallie Kathryn Jacobs; and many other loved ones. She was born December 28, 1913 in Bedford County. She was a member of the Morgans Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons and their families, James Bruce and Fay L. Craghead, Moneta; grandson and wife, Jeffrey Bruce and Leigh Ann Craghead; great-grandson, Johnston Bruce Craghead; granddaughter and husband, Courtney Craghead Carr and Todd E. Carr; great-grandson, Samuel Jennings Carr; son, Jennings L. (Pete) and Margie P. Craghead, Moneta; grandson and wife, Michael Jennings and Lura Craghead; son, Robert N. (Bobby) and Patricia T,. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 4, 1996, at 11 a.m. from the Morgans Baptist Church by the Rev. Elmer Sellers. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. CRUTCHFIELD, Anthony Roger, 49, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, December 1, 1996. He was born in Roanoke to the late George and Helen Haynes Crutchfield. He was employed at Exxon. Survivors include his wife, Linda E. Crutchfield; one daughter, Monica J. Crutchfield, Roanoke; two sons, SSG Anthony R. Crutchfield Jr., Honolulu, Hawaii, and Kevin H. Crutchfield, Roanoke; two brothers, Joseph C. (Mary) Crutchfield, Charlottesville, and William M. (Constance) Crutchfield, Roanoke; six sisters, Georgia Preston, Washington, D.C., Ernestine (Carroll) Holland, Christine Amos, Cleo (Joseph) Sims, Louise (Willis) Monroe, and Louelle Thaxton, all of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Azia, Chelsee and Kerah Crutchfield, Chanel Smith; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leroy and Gladys Edwards; four sisters-in-law, Deborah (George) Casey, Cynthia (J.C.) Brown, Cathy Rose, and Lenoia (Michael) Barber; one brother-in-law, Leroy Edwards Jr., all of Roanoke; al host of other relatives and friends. CUNNINGHAM, George L., 80, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, November 30, 1996. He was the son of the late Arthur and Hattie Cunningham. He retired from Norfolk & Western Railroad. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Mae Cunningham of Roanoke; a host of in-laws; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., at the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Hamlar-Curtis.

FOX, Jacqualine Thompson, 68, of Pearisburg, died Saturday, November 30, 1996. Her remains were cremated. Arrangements by Riffe's Funeral Service, Narrows.

FRYE, Anna Kincer, 81, of Wytheville, died Sunday, December 1, 1996, in a St. Stephen's, S.C. nursing home. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Bill Palmer of Bonneau, S.C., Patricia and Darrel LaRue of Independence; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Teresa Frye of Roanoke; two brothers, Ellis Kincer and Clifford Kincer, both of Wytheville; a sister, Ozelle Hale of Dublin. Several grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, and great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the Rosewood Cemetery, Rural Retreat. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Gillman Funeral Chapel. Gillman Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

HARTSOCK, Bickley Alderson, 90, of Galax, died Saturday, November 30, 1996 at Twin County Regional Hospital. He was member of First Baptist Church of Galax, and was a lifetime member of the Old Town Masonic Lodge #68 of Galax. He is survived by his wife, Euna Lee Hartsock; one daughter, Deanna H. Goodson, London, England; one son John F. Hartsock and wife, Becky, Vinton; four grandchildren and spouse, David Goodson, San Francisco, Calif., Katie Goodson, London, England, Lori H. and Rocky Cannady, Roanoke, Jonathan Hartsock, VMI in Lexington; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Wednesday, December 4, 1996, Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with burial in the Felts Cemetery. Masonic rites will held at the graveside by Masonic Lodge #68 of Galax. HENDERSON, Ethel Hatcher Clark, 71, of Lynchburg, died Monday, December 2, 1996 in Lynchburg. She was the widow of James Wilson Clark. Mrs. Henderson is survived by two sons, W. C. Clark and James W. Clark, both of Roanoke; one daughter, Carolyn Hearl of Lynchburg; two brothers, Robert L. Hatcher of Lexington and W. W. Hatcher of Beckley, W.Va.; three sisters, Mary Campbell of Roanoke, Dorothy Lunsford of Lexington and Audrey Timberlake of Charlottesville; 11 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday from W. B. Harrison Funeral Chapel in Lexington, Va. Interment will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

HOSS, Bill, 76, of Abingdon, died Sunday, December 1, 1996. Funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday, Campbell Funeral Home.

IKENBERRY, Margaret Ruth Moulton, 89, of Woodbridge, died Sunday, December 1, 1996. She was born and educated in Kansas, receiving her B.A. Degree from McPherson College. Mrs. Ikenberry was an educator, including teaching in a one room school in Corwin, Kansas. Mrs. Ikenberry was married to the Shepherd College President, the late Oliver S. Ikenberry and served as First Lady from 1947 to 1968. She was an active member of the American Association of University Women in West Virginia and Nashville, Tennessee, where she served as State President. She was also a charter member and Grand Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Ikenberry had been a lifelong member of the Presbyterian church, serving as President of the Women of the Church in Shepherdstown, W. Va. and Nashville, Tenn. She enjoyed music, poetry, painting and she was a published author. In 1990, she received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Shepherd College. She was an inspiration to those who knew and loved her and devoted her life to making a contribution to the betterment of mankind through her many church and community activities. Surviving are two daughters, Margaret Elizabeth Wade of Manassas, Jane Ikenberry Dorrier, Scottsville; one son, Stanley O. Ikenberry, Washington, D.C.; sister, Ola Harris of Kansas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from Antioch Church of the Brethren, 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Gerald Baile Crouse officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials be made to the Ikenberry Memorial Fund, Shepherd College, Shepherdstown, W. Va. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. MARTIN, Alice Q., 74, of Bedford, passed away Sunday, December 1, 1996, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born April 18, 1922 in York, S.C., a daughter of the late David Thomas Quinn and Alice Mabel Berry Quinn. She was a retired supervisor of the surgical units at the Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, N.C., and was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Martin Jr.; a daughter, Robin Q. Martin, Collierville, Tenn.; a brother, David Thomas Quinn, New Canaan, Conn.; a granddaughter, Chelsey. A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, December 4, 1996, at 11 a.m. from the Bedford Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Joseph Gaston. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. Martin's sister, Mrs. Harry Scott, 763 Peaks Street, Bedford. The family requests no flowers, and that donations be made to the building maintenance fund of the Bedford Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.

PASSMORE, Mildred Rebecca, M.D. 84, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, December 1, 1996. Dr. Passmore started her practice in Roanoke in 1962 with Dr. Margaret Obenschain, and later with the Social Security Disability Determination Services of Roanoke until her retirement. She is survived by her sisters, Hazel M. Passmore of Roanoke and Annabelle Rosenthal of Woodstock, Ill. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be conducted Wednesda y, December 4, 1996, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Kenneth P. Lane Jr. officiating. RICHARDSON, Thomas R., 85, formerly of Belleville Rd., S.W., Roanoke, died Saturday, November 30, 1996, in a Roanoke hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Ribble Richardson. The only known survivors are a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lucy and James O'Flaherty, Winston Salem, N.C.; and special friends, James L. and Connie S. Fish, Richmond. The loving care and attention by Dr. Charles Hefner and his staff are much appreciated, and his care at the Walthall Home For Adults was outstanding. ROBERTS, Helen Moore, 82, of Buena Vista, died Sunday, December 1, 1996, at her home. She was born October 25, 1914 in Rockbridge County, daughter of the late James Moore and Hessie Hamilton Moore. She was a member of Natural Bridge Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Irving Roberts. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and William Lawhorne of Lynchburg, Bonita and Rev. Marvin H. McDaniel of Fredericksburg; one son and daughter-in-law, William F. ``Billy'' and Sharon Huffman of Buena Vista; one brother, James D. Moore of Lynchburg; one sister, Hazel Williams of Idaho Falls, Idaho; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Conald W. Fogus officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. STEBAR, Marilyn Ruble, 60, of New Castle passed away Monday, December 2, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Garland Stebar. Stebar; grandchildren, Lydia Jeanette Stebar, Reece Garland Stebar; brothers, Martin D. Ruble, Jerry W. Ruble; several nieces and nephews. WEBB, Franklin Fitzpatrick, 70, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, December 2, 1996 after a long illness. A native of Floyd Co., He graduated from Jefferson High School and Michigan Tech. He served in the Navy in World War II and retired from American Electric Power. Frank loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman throughout his life. He was a member of BPOE #197 Elks Lodge. He was pre-deceased by his parents Luther and Nancy Hancock Webb and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn Lyon Webb, and daughter, Vicki Lynn Webb of Roanoke; brother and sister-in-law, Darryl and Helen Webb of Salem; niece and husband Sharon and Carliss Carroll of Salem; nephew and wife, Gene and Katie Webb of Richmond; sister-in-law, Victoria Palmer of Philadelphia, PA; nephew Allen Palmer III, of Roanoke; four great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 4, 1996 at 1 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel with The Rev. Mark Graham officiating. Friends may call at Oakey's South after 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. WILLIAMS, Emma M., 97, of Newbern, died early Monday morning, December 2, 1996, in the Radford Community Hospital , Radford. She was born in Newbern on January 15, 1899, and was the daughter of the late Everette Cox Williams and Mary Farmer Williams. She was a retired bank teller with Signet Bank for many years. She was a member of the Newbern United Methodist Church. Surviving are her sister, Aldah W. Apperson, Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Roanoke; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, with the Rev. Barry Taylor and the Rev. Richard Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Newbern Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Tuesday evening at Stevens Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorials be made to the Newbern United Methodist Church, Newbern, Va. 24126, or to the Holston Methodist Home, P.O. WISE, James Alfred Jr., 69, of Rt. 2 Box 500, Grottoes, died Monday morning, December 2, 1996 at his home. He was born December 27, 1926 in Salem, Va. a son of the late James Alfred and Nellie Mae Helms Wise. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and was an honorary member of the Grottoes Rescue Squad. Survivors include his wife, Betty Martin Wise; three daughters, Brenda Gail Heffinger, Goodview, Carol Jean Batten, Ft. Defiance and Debra Wise Brown, Grottoes; two brothers, Odell Wise, New Market and Carolton Wise, Wirtz; three sisters, Mae Ellis, Salem, Pauline Atkins, Bridgewater and Clara Frantz, Palm Dale, Calif; one grandson; three granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; and a number of nieces and nephews. A service will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of McDow Funeral Home by the Rev. Carl East. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park in Harrisonburg. Pallbearers will be Sam East, Jeff East, Mike Atkins, Todd Fisher, Glenn Sullivan, and Steve Wood. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McDow Funeral Home.
