Police plan to file a murder charge against an 88-year-old man who allegedly killed his nephew on Thanksgiving Day.
Joseph Williams of White Oak shot James Lee Washington, 52, in the back with a shotgun, police said. Washington's body was found in Williams' front yard.
Williams was found with a head injury, apparently from trying to shoot himself, police said. He is receiving treatment at a mental health facility, but authorities plan to charge him with first-degree murder once he is released, Stafford County Detective William Bowler said.
