BLACKSBURG POLICE SEEK LEAPING BURGLAR

Police are looking for a man who attempted to burglarize two apartments in the same complex and then jumped from the apartments' balconies after he was sighted.

The first incident occurred about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday in a complex in the northeast section of town. Police said two women returned home to find a man in their apartment. The man leapt from the apartment's third-floor balcony and fled on foot, according to police.

Within a half-hour of the first incident, another woman found a man in her apartment after a dog's barking awakened her, police said. The woman screamed and watched the man as he jumped off her second-floor balcony to escape.

The suspect in both incidents was described as a white male, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9, medium to stocky build, in his early 20s. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark green, thigh-length jacket with a blue horizontal stripe and hood.

Anyone with information about these crimes should call the Blacksburg Police Department at 961-1150 or the Crime Line at 961-1819.
