NEW ANIMAL CLINIC OPENS IN DUBLIN

Dr. E. Vann Covey opened her new 3,400-square-foot animal hospital Friday.

The new facility has separate areas for dogs and cats, surgery and X-ray, as well as a grooming area and a drive-in window for customers to pick up prescriptions, refills and animal food.

Covey is a native of the New River Valley. She graduated from Pulaski County High School, Virginia-Intermont College and the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.

She had been at a five-doctor animal hospital in Alexandria before deciding to move back home.

Wayne Usiak & Associates of Albuquerque, N.M., specialists in animal hospitals, designed her building and Wythe County contractor Michael Allen built it.

Covey is the daughter of Earl and Doris Ann Covey who own the Covey Campground on Claytor Lake.
