Ronald Curry threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as Hampton beat Patrick Henry-Ashland 51-0 for the Group AAA Division 2 championship Saturday in Richmond.
The state title was the second straight for the Crabbers (14-0), who have won 27 consecutive games and 14 state titles, a Virginia record.
The Crabbers outscored opponents 819-83 this season. Their margin of victory Saturday was the largest ever in a Group AAA championship game.
Patrick Henry (13-1) was seeking its second state title in three seasons. But the Patriots started to fold in the second quarter when they fumbled twice. The Patriots had five turnovers - four fumbles and an interception.
The Crabbers scored first on Curry's 5-yard run four minutes into the second quarter. They scored three more touchdowns in the next eight minutes to take a 29-0 lead into halftime.
Senior tailback Daryl Smith rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Hampton's defense had its eighth shutout of the season.
Patrick Henry had no pass completions and managed only 46 yards on 38 rushes.
Curry ended the season with 2,293 passing yards and 36 touchdown passes.
In other championship games:
Chantilly 14, GW-Danville 7: In Fairfax, Marc Matthie ran for two first-half touchdowns as Chantilly beat George Washington-Danville for its first Group AAA Division 6 championship.
It was the second time in three years that GW-Danville (13-1) lost a championship game.
GW-Danville scored first, capitalizing on Matthie's fumble on Chantilly's first play. John Dickerson scored on an 8-yard run with 9:27 left in the first quarter.
Chantilly (13-1) evened the score with 6:43 left in the first quarter on Matthie's 4-yard run.
Chantilly (13-1) took the lead after recovering a fumbled snap on George Washington's 33-yard line with 1:38 remaining in the first half. Five plays later, Matthie scored from one yard out.
Both teams were scoreless after halftime. GW-Danville fumbled seven snaps in the second half.
James Monroe 7, Brookville 0: In Spotsylvania, Shannon Wallace made the most of his one offensive play, scoring the only touchdown the Yellow Jackets' Group AA Division 3 win over the Bees (12-2).
Wallace, who scored on a 36-yard run with 46 seconds left in the third quarter, was in the game only because Trell Parker went to the sideline to wipe mud out of his eyes. Parker, a senior tailback who entered the game with 2,664 yards and 36 touchdowns, managed 96 yards on 29 carries.
Appalachia 40, Surry County 14: In Big Stone Gap, Travis Clark rushed for two touchdowns and 111 yards as the Bulldogs scored 18 points in the third quarter to defeat the Cougars in the Group A Division 1 title game.
Appalachia (11-3), which rushed for 273 years, won its fifth state title since 1971.
Benjamin Warren had nine catches for 101 yards and a touchdown for Surry County (13-1).
