CELEBRATIONS - ANNIVERSARIES

Epperly anniversary

Paul and Frances Meador Epperly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family on Thanksgiving. They were married December 7, 1946.

Their daughter Pat, son David, special daughter-in-law Charlotte, grandchildren Teresa, Samuel, Roxann, Dawn and their families also joined in the celebration. They have two great grandchildren Kelly and Brad; another one is due soon.

We are proud to have them as parents and grandparents.

Hughes anniversary

Claude and Pauline Hughes of Roanoke celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family & friends at Red Hill Baptist Church on Dec. 7, 1996. They were married Dec. 24, 1946 in Danville, Va. The reception was given by their children and spouses, Wayne & Sadie Hughes, Brenda & Mark Overfelt, Tim & Danielle Hughes and Chris & Tonya Hughes. They have two grandchildren, Brian Wesley Hughes and Connor Gail Overfelt.

We wish them many more years of health and happiness.

Phillips anniversary

Theron A. and Agnes Phillips celebrated their 50th anniversary on Saturday, November 23, 1996. The celebration was held at the Floyd County VFW Hall, and hosted by their daughters. The couple was married November 19, 1946 in Willis, Va. They were wed on the birthday of Mr. Phillips' father, John Sherman Phillips. Later, their second daughter was also born on November 19th. Mrs. Phillips is the former Martha Agnes Coburn. They have four daughters, Patsy Phillips of Floyd; Peggy Quesenberry of Floyd; Dolly Conner of Floyd; and Nancy Page of Christiansburg; also, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Phillips is self-employed and semi-retired. They are members of VFW Post 1115, and White Rock Church of the Brethren, and Mrs. Phillips belongs to Indian Valley Home Extension Club. Out-of-town guest attending the celebration were Mrs. Phillips' brothers, Tom Coburn from Lakeland, Florida, and Bill Coburn from Mentor, Ohio.

Webb anniversary

Wayne and Helen Webb celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 24, 1996 at a reception hosted by their two children and their spouses at the Blacksburg Christian Church. Wayne and Helen were married on November 9, 1946. They have three grandchildren. Wayne is retired from Leggett and Helen is retired from the University Bookstore at VPI&SU.
