WOMAN CHARGED IN SON'S STABBING

A Southeast Roanoke woman was charged with malicious wounding after her 16-year-old son told police she stabbed him in the left hand with a kitchen knife.

The 32-year-old woman, whose name is being withheld to protect her son's identity, told police she stabbed him about 9 p.m. Friday after he pushed her. The boy was treated at a local hospital.

Roanoke police also reported that an 18-year-old Clifton Forge man was robbed in a Salem Avenue parking lot early Sunday.

The man said he was in the 300 block of Salem about 3 a.m. when three men walked up and spoke to him.

He rolled down his window, and the men asked where his money was. They opened his door, and he got out. The men then punched him until one of the men pulled out a handgun and put it to the victim's head.

The men searched his car, took a cellular phone and a pager, but apparently made off with no money. The victim ran from the area, and the men then left in a car.
