According to Men's Health magazine, a recent study found that 73 percent of headache patients felt relief when they rubbed capsaicin - the stuff that makes cayenne pepper hot - on their nose.

Natural resistance

Cherokee genetics seems to protect full-blood tribal members from Alzheimer's disease. So indicates preliminary research reported in the Archives of Neurology. ``We need to find out how they are protected and why they are protected,'' says Ralph Richter, coauthor of the study and director of the Alzheimer's Research Unit at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla.

Bulimia treatment

Here's news for people with eating disorders: Prozac, the world's largest selling antidepressant, has won Food and Drug Administration approval to also treat bulimia. Prozac doesn't help all bulimics. But in clinical trials, women who took 60 milligrams of Prozac a day for eight weeks experienced on average a 67 percent decrease in binge eating and a 56 percent decrease in vomiting episodes, said the drug's manufacturer, Eli Lilly.
