Golfer Chip Sullivan of Roanoke has to wait a little longer to secure his PGA tour card.
The sixth and final round of PGA qualifying in Lompoc, Calif., was postponed because of rain Monday.
The 110 players competing for 40 PGA cards will finish the 108-hole, $150,000 tournament today, weather permitting. Sullivan is tied for second place.
In other news in the region:
* Virginia Tech soccer player Chris Chladek was named to the All-South Atlantic Region second team.
Chladek helped the Hokies to a 12-8 overall record, 7-5 in the Atlantic 10.
* Eight Virginia field hockey players were selected to attend the national selection camp Dec.27-30 at Rutgers.
Sophomore All-Americans Meridith Thorpe and Michelle Vizzuso were chosen, along with sophomores Lori Mastropietro, Melissa Hayes and Frances West and freshmen Natalie Crane, Laura Lindsay and Meredith Elwell.
The National Senior and Junior Teams will be selected from the camp.
In related news, UVa coach Julie Myers announced the signing of six players to national letters of intent.
Lacey Aumiller, a midfield attacker from Baltimore; Julie Cattano, a defender from Charlottesville; Mills Hook, an attacker from Baltimore; midfielder Libby Hoyle, also of Baltimore; Kristen Keller, a midfielder from Radnor, Pa.; and defender Lauren Stevenson of Chestertown, Md.
