Bedford County's Stewartsville area may be getting some much-needed public water.
County supervisors voted 7-0 Monday to fund a joint study with Vinton to see if that town can sell bulk water to Bedford County.
Bedford will pay its half of the $8,300 study only if Vinton offers to sell the county water and the county declines.
If Bedford County buys water from Vinton, its share of the study cost will be included in the purchases.
Bedford County Administrator Bill Rolfe said county officials, who have been talking with their counterparts in Vinton for several months, were looking into buying water from the city of Roanoke, too.
