ALLNOCH, Harriett Farley Riggs, 83, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, December 9, 1996. She was born in Narrows, Va., the daughter of the late Walter B. and Mary Louise Farley. She was preceded in death by her brother, Homer C. Farley; and husbands, Adna A. Riggs and Gerald L. Allnoch. She was a member of First Christian Church, Salem. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Thomas P. Day, Salem; sons and daughters-in-law, A. Wayne and Vickie Riggs, San Diego, Calif., Ralph L. and Margaret Riggs, Salem, Robert B. Riggs, Lynchburg; a sister, Beulah T. Potts, Richland Center, Wisc.; also surviving are six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and cousins. BARABASH, Nikolaus Nick Dr., 85, of Botetourt County, passed away Monday, December 9,1996. He was a retired veterinarian from Animal Medical Association and is survived by his wife, Marie Alexy Barabash; his sister, Irena Onishenko and her husband, Gregory, Trenton, N.J.; his grand-niece, Marina Collins and her husband, Thomas and their son, Max, Troutville; several nieces and nephews, including Vladim ir Olefirenko, Ukraine. A funeral service will be held at Holly Trinity Greek Orthodex Church Thursday, December 12, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. George Chioros officiating. Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, where a Trisagon prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
BREWER, Ethel Martin, 78, of Speedwell, died Monday, December 9, 1996, in the Wythe County Community Hos pital. She was the daughter of the late George T. and Verlie Roberts Martin, and was a member of the Speedwell United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward O. ``Tobe'' Brewer. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Wanda Brewer of Wytheville; two sisters, Ona Parks of Rural Retreat, Ruth McAllister of Huntingtown, Md.; one brother, R. C. Martin of Mount Jackson; three grandchildren, Melissa and husband, Cliff Arnold, Rhonda Brewer, Ryan Brewer, all of Wytheville; great-grandson, Dakota Arnold. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., in the Speedwell United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Patricia Edwards and the Rev. Joe Carrico, with the entombment in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat. BYRD, Lucy Lou Lackey, 85, of Horse Shoe, N.C., died Monday, December 9, 1996 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Va. She was a native of McDowell Co., N. C. and had lived in Henderson Co., N.C. for 39 years, until moving to Roanoke in 1992. She is a daughter of the late Zebulon and Mammie Morris Lackey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvil Raymond Byrd, who died in 1989. Mrs. Byrd was a member of the Horse Shoe Baptist Church. Survivors include five sons and their wives, William Z. Byrd and wife, Jean of Camden, S.C., Donald E. Byrd and wife, Delia Ann of Saluda, N.C., John E. Byrd of Scottsdale, Ariz., Harry L. Byrd and wife, Geneva of Horse Shoe, N.C., David R. Byrd and wife, Brenda of Horse Shoe, N.C.; four daughters and their husbands, Mary K. Mardna and husband, John, of Etowah, N.C., Betty Jo Jones, Margaret M. Byrd, Ruby E. Byrd, all of Roanoke; one sister, Annie Byrd of Brevard, N.C.; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 12, 1996 at 11 a.m. in Horse Shoe Baptist Church, where the body will be placed 30 minutes before service time. The Rev. CALILUNG, Catherine Carlos, 29, of 102 Orchard Drive, Narrows, died Monday, December 9,1996 at the Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem, Va. She was born on September 4, 1967 in Pampanga, Philippines and was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Cesar S. Calilung of Narrows. She attended and graduated from Narrows High School, Class of 1985, and attended William & Mary College in Williamsburg, Va. She transferred to Virginia Tech and graduated Cum Laude in 1989. While at Virginia Tech, she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa. She then completed her studies in Physical Therapy at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Va., graduating in 1992. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Pearisburg, Va. In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Noel M. Calilung of Vinton, Va. and Danilo D. Calilung of Marietta, Ga.; a sister, Christina M. Calilung of Stone Mountain, Ga.; her maternal grandmother, Teodora Carlos of Pampanga, Philippines. A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Pearisburg, with Fr. Louis Benoit officiating. Concluding services will be held in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will gather with their friends at Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening. A Christian wake service will be held in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows at 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

GOURLEY, Willard Guy, 88, was Heaven's gain as he went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 9, 1996. Willard was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Mildred Skeen Gourley. He was a resident of King's Grant in Martinsville at the time of his death. Born in Danville on November 6, 1908, to Fitz Lee Gourley and Ella Young Gourley, he graduated from Leaksville High School in Leaksville, N.C., and attended Shenandoah College in Dayton, Va. A 43-year employee of Appalachian Power Company, Willard retired as District Superintendent for the Fieldale District. A loving and loved father, grandfather and brother, Willard is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Jack Kamishlian of Endwell, N.Y ., and Lynne and Paul Farrell of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren and spouses, David and Cynthia Kamishlian of Cambridge, Mass., Ella and John Riordan of North Haven, Conn., and Willard Guy Kamishlian of Framingham, Mass., and a great-grandson, Conor FitzLee Riordan. Also surviving Willard are three brothers and wives, Malcolm and Frances Gourley, Wallace and Carolyn Gourley, and Franklin and Betty Gourley. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, in addition to an aunt, Bea Gourley, survive him. Willard leaves behind the love and admiration not only of his family, but also the respect and love of all who knew him. He was an active member of Fieldale Baptist Church, serving in leadership capacity. He was a Deacon for many years. He was a member of the Fieldale Sanitary District, the Henry County Chamber of Commerce and the Oakwood Cemetery Committee. Willard was a longtime member of the Fieldale Rotary Club, and was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Fieldale-Collinsville Rotary. He was a member of Piedmont Masonic Lodge #154 A.F.&A.M. for more than 50 years. In 1988, Willard was named Senior Citizen of the Year by the Collinsville Jaycees and Rangeley Ruritan Club. In retirement, Willard pursued his hobbies of travel, reading, community service, and membership and participation in Habitat for Humanity. He was part of a crew that went to Charleston, S.C., to render assistance following Hurricane Hugo, and also participated in several church building work teams. In retirement, Willard was able to combine his new hobby of gardening with community involvement, enjoying nothing more than distributing his produce to his friends and neighbors in Fieldale. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 1996, at Fieldale Baptist Church. The Rev. Richard Harrison will officiate. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Wednesday evening at Norris Funeral Services in Martinsville. It was Willard's request that any memorial gifts be made to World Hunger. HALL, Dorothy Ann Goad, 54, of Hillsville, passed away Monday, December 9, 1996, at her home. She was born February 23, 1942 in Carroll County. Surviving are her husband, Clifford H. HAMBRICK, Hezekiah Clifton, Jr., 74, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, December 9, 1996 at his home. During World War II, he served in the Third Armored Division of the U. S. Army in the Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns. He was retired from the Exxon Corporation. Mr. Hambrick was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Roanoke Third Ward. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Faye Boggs Hambrick. Surviving are two sons and their wives, Clifton Lee and Teresa Hambrick, Danny Lynn and Kay Hambrick, all of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Jacob Hambrick, serving a mission in the Dominican Republic, Amy Hambrick, Aaron Hambrick, Maria Hambrick and Hunter Hambrick, all of Roanoke; a brother, John William Hambrick, Cassville, Ga. IDDINGS, Ethel Miles, 91, of Radford and formerly of Floyd, died Tuesday morning, December 10, 1996, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. She was a long-time member of Campbethel Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis, Sr. and son, Curtis, Jr. Iddings; also several brothers and sisters. Surviving is a brother, Claude J. Miles, Sr., Christiansburg; two sisters, Ann Wiley of Christiansburg and Ruth Wilkerson, Lynchburg. Also several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and wife, Gilbert and Judy Miles, of Radford and their children, Lee and Rebecca Miles, Jason Miles, Cindy and Dwyane Dickerson. INGRAM, Frederick Oakmont, (``Fred''), 88, of Ferrum, passed away at his home Monday, December 9, 1996. He was born February 28, 1908 in Franklin County, a son of the late Thomas Green and Frances Jamison Ingram. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Berta Cooper Ingram; and one brother, Archie Ingram. He retired from Exxon in 1970 after 42 years of service; was a life-long member of St. James Methodist Church of Ferrum, and a member of the Rocky Mount Masonic Lodge No. 201 A.F. & A.M. for 49 years. Surviving are his wife, Larmie Bowling Ingram of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Frederick W. ``Butch'' and Doris Ingram, Charlotte, N.C.; six stepdaughters and four sons-in-law, Barbara and Lee Arrington, Rocky Mount, Carol and Billy Woods, Maxine and P. LEFTWICH, Whitney S., 20, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, December 9, 1996. She was a graduate of Cave Spring High School and a nursing student at the College of Health Sciences at Community Hospital in Roanoke. Whitney was a member of the National Honor Society and was the editor of the cystic fibrosis news letter, ``Common Friends"". She was a counselor at Camp Holiday Trails, a volunteer at Community Hospital in the Roanoke Valley, and a member of Windsor Hills Baptist Church. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Andre Muelenaer and Whitney's many friends at Community Hospital. Surviving are her parents, Richard Sale Leftwich Jr. of Roanoke, Candace Leftwich and special friend, J. MORELAND, Harry T., 83, of Roanoke, died Monday, December 9, 1996. A native of Huntington, W.Va., he graduated from Washington and Lee University's Law School in 1937, and was admitted to the Virginia Bar the same year. Mr. Moreland worked for the Maryland Casualty Company of Baltimore, Md., for 41 years, retiring as the Resident Vice President of its Baltimore branch office in 1978. After his retirement, he served for 14 years as the Maryland Casualty's ``Loaned Executive"" to the United Way of Central Maryland Campaign. During World War II, he was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy, and served as a Communications Officer in the Pacific Theater. His duties included service as a Lieutenant on Admiral Halsey's staff. Mr. Moreland was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Salem. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Riley Moreland of Roanoke; a daughter, Carolyn Lee of Bay Village, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Missy Moreland, and his grandson, Edward Christian Moreland, all of Arlington. Thompson and was preceded in death by her daughter, Alma Pauline Hopkins. Surviving are her son, Benjamin H. (""Benny"") Thompson, Leesburg; granddaughter, Linda (""Sue"") Stanley, Roanoke; great-grandchildren, James E. Hughes II., U.S.A.F., Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jennifer Lynn Stanley, Lori Beth Stanley, both of Roanoke; nephews, A. B. Hurt, Crumpler, N.C., Roger Semones, Christiansburg. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, Thursday, December 12, 1996, 3 p.m. with the Rev. Cindy Barnum-Speggerda officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. WILLIS, Lillie Webb, 103, of Salem, died Tuesday, December 10, 1996, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband and sons, John Willis, Herbert and Eugene Webb. Survivors include daughters, Lorene Lewis, Goodview, Harvie Markham, Fincastle, Luverne Graves, Roanoke; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; and two grea t-great-great grandchildren; and a foster sister, Effie Brannock; and foster son, Walter Gordan. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 14, at 11 a.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem with the Rev. Harry Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Westend Cemetery in Wytheville at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
