GIRL, 13, SAYS 3 OLDER BOYS HIT, KICKED HER

Three males, apparently teen-agers, jumped a 13-year-old girl as she walked home from school Wednesday.

The Woodrow Wilson Middle School student was in the Grandin Road area near Brandon Avenue about 2:30 p.m. when, she told police, three boys she doesn't know approached her.

All three, whom she said appeared to be 17 years old, wore baggy jeans, police said. Two of the three had red bandanas hanging from their pants pockets, and the third wore a bandana on his head.

The boy wearing the bandana called the girl names, then punched her in the head. The girl fell to the ground, and all three kicked her.

The girl apparently made it home and was taken to Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital, where she was treated for bruises all over her body.

Additional details were not available, but police continue to investigate.
