LIBERTY ROUTS HAMPTON 69-42

Liberty scored the last 22 points of the first half Monday night and coasted to a 69-42 victory over homestanding Hampton.

The Flames (7-1) held Hampton scoreless for the final 7:22 - after Al Bell's 3-pointer drew the Pirates (0-5) to within 16-11.

Walter Graham started the blitz with a jumper and 3-pointer. Before it was over, Marcus White added six points, Erik Sorensen five and Peter Aluma four.

Liberty extended its lead to as many as 32 points three times in the second half. The Pirates got to within 20 points twice, but never closer.

White led the Flames with 15 points and Aluma and Graham had 12 each.

Hampton, held to 4-for-25 shooting in the first half, made 11 of 30 shots after the break to finish at 27.3 percent. Liberty shot 47.4 percent.

The Pirates were led by Bell's 15 points.

No.22 Louisville 65, Wright St. 57: In Louisville, Ky., Alex Sanders scored seven of his nine points over the final four minutes as the Cardinals survived a scare from the Raiders.

The Cardinals (7-0) had problems with Wright State's zone defenses and shot a season-low 39 percent from the field (24-of-61), including 23 percent from 3-point range (5-of-22).

Wright State (1-4) trailed 51-49 after Rob Welch made two free throws with 3:59 left after being fouled by Sanders on a drive to the basket.

Eleven seconds later, Sanders scooped up a failed alley-oop pass from DeJuan Wheat to Alvin Sims and converted an easy layup. He was fouled by Mike Conner and hit the free throw to give Louisville a 54-49 lead.

After Connor hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key to slice the margin to 58-54, Sanders scored on a putback and then a layup to increase Louisville's lead to 62-54 with 1:45 to go.

Wright State got no closer than 62-57 on Welch's 3-pointer with 41 seconds left in losing its fourth straight game.

Wheat led Louisville with 14 points. Welch had 15 and Keion Brooks added 12 for the Raiders, who shot 38 percent from the field.

St.Joseph's 71, DePaul 58: In Philadelphia, junior guard Rashid Bey scored a career-high 18 points as the Hawks beat the Blue Demons.

Marcus Singer had a career-high 23 points for DePaul (1-5). The rest of the Blue Demons' starters combined for a total of 11 points.

The Hawks (3-1) held a 53-47 edge with 8:30 remaining, but then moved out to a 61-51 advantage on a jumper by Bey with 6:29 remaining and the Blue Demons never got closer than nine points.

St.Joseph's trailed 23-18 midway through the first half, but scored 10 straight points to take a 28-23 lead with three minutes remaining. St.Joseph's held a 34-30 edge at halftime.

Arthur Davis had 17 points and former Maryland big man Nemanja Petrovic added 13 for St.Joseph's, while Duval Simmonds scored 11.
