Sarah Hicks and Sara Moore, the leaders of Lord Botetourt High School's two-time defending Group AA champion girls' basketball team, were first-team selections on the Virginia High School Coaches Association All-State team and Cavaliers coach David Wheat was coach of the year, the coaches announced Monday.
Joining Hicks and Moore on the first team were Leigh Jones of Marion; Nykeia Washington of Charlottesville; and Telisha Quarles of Louisa County.
The second team consisted of Heather Miller of Bassett; Crystal Ames and Kristi Bennett of Richlands; Kara Connelly of Western Albemarle; and Tricia Ziegler of Harrisonburg.
