A 37-year-old Floyd County man was killed in a one-car accident early Sunday near his hometown, according to state police.
About 2:45 a.m., Terry Amos Peters of Check drove off the side of the road, then across the opposite traffic lane and into an embankment on U.S. 221, just north of Virginia 641. State police said Peters was thrown from his 1980 pickup truck and died at the scene.
The accident report did not indicate if Peters was wearing a seat belt. Investigators had not determined Monday what caused the accident.
