RSVP KEEPS IT GOING OVER THE HOLIDAYS

The 250 members of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program in Montgomery County and Radford don't stop their volunteer efforts during the holiday season.

This season, the volunteers are collecting gifts for the Grundy Mountain Mission School for orphans, and they are filling stockings for the residents of area nursing and adult homes. During the rest of the year, participants work on projects for local governments and nonprofit organizations. They also host receptions and other events for nursing and adult homes, conduct preschool programs, raise money for scholarships for local students in health-related fields, and engage in other worthwhile projects.

RSVP members are people who are 55 or older. Around the country, more than 440,000 seniors take part in about 700 local programs.
