TIFFANY DAVIDSON of Roanoke was selected as one of the finalists in the state Department of Motor Vehicles License Plate Design Contest.

Davidson received a $500 U.S. Savings Bond at the awards ceremony in Richmond.

STEPHEN CHARLES SBORAY IV of William Byrd High School has received the local award of the National Voice of Democracy program sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary.

Sboray's essay was titled "Democracy: Above and Beyond," this year's theme. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen C. Sboray III of Vinton.
